I know Glenn Close from two roles: she was in Fatal Attraction (I think that's the name, though I never saw it myself) in which she played Michael Douglas' lover who threatened him and possibly murdered him or his wife, and she was in 101 Dalmatians (and 102 Dalmatians), the Disney remake using real actors instead of animation.

When I first met my wife I thought she looked like Karen Valentine (Room 222), but I never make the connection anymore for obvious reasons.

I hate to be obtuse, but what are those reasons?

FWIW, I used to be compared with Ruth Buzzy. I don't hear that one any more.

Are you telling me that all Glenn Close plays are unsavory women? Doesn't she ever play someone nice? So, what Dog said to me wasn't a compliment?

OK, maybe not obvious reasons, but it's just that when you get so familiar with someone, you can't hardly make the connection with someone you only knew from TV or movies. I just googled Karen Valentine and can't really see the resemblance anymore and oldest daughter couldn't either.

Glenn Close doesn't just play unsavory women, but those happen to be the only two I can think of. She seems to me, actually, a cut above most Hollywood types.

We've just made some headway with our dogs. Everyone seems to be getting tired of Shadow inside, especially now that he's shedding so badly and still gets into the trash on a regular basis, but he'd learned to sneak under the electric fence when we put him outside without his leash. So today we put a board over the place where he sneaks out and put him in half the pasture with Maggie and just left them together. They didn't kill each other and he hasn't gotten out. He desperately wants to come back in, but we'll leave him out there tonight and probably all day tomorrow. Next week we'll all be gone during the days so this is preferable to having him on his leash for 8 hours a day.

Hey there, kiddo. I think part of the confusion over your resemblence (or lack there of) to Glen Close may be caused by the fact the photo on your web page is not a front on view. I, too, see a resemblence to Close. But if I saw you front on, I might think otherwise.

I think Dog was paying you a lovely compliment. Take it, and savor it. "We" don't get that many as 'we' age.

I have taken it as a compliment. Really! I just didn't know for sure who she was. LOL! I am so out of it.

Also, Dog is one of my favorite personalities here. He has paid his dues and made sacrifices and been there when people have needed him. His works of caring are well worth emulating. I esteem him highly.

You're right about the compliments as we age. It is hard for me to accept. I am honored that a resemblance is seen by you and Dog. I just wish I had Close's figure. To put it bluntly, I am fat, she is not. I must start a diet again. I just haven't yet or even planned for it. Give me a week or two.

Just in case anyone is curious, I am STILL working on that essay. It isn't due until the 29th so I think I'm well on schedule. Perhaps I'll post it on the web site so those interested could read it. Maybe.

Please ping me to your essay if you post it within the next 2 wks. I'm gonna be swamped at work, with tons of road time. I am afraid I will miss the essay.

I watched the former POWs land. It was spine-tingling. I was worried when a couple of them didn't have family there, then I remembered they were flying to Fort Hood.

I saw it, too ... and cried like a baby! I also noticed the guy who didn't seem to have anyone there to meet him. Then I figured out why. I'm wondering if there will be tv coverage when they arrive at Fort Hood.

There will be, at least on CNN. I plan on turning to Fox when I see them land on CNN. No use giving CNN any more viewing time than necessary.

I just received a great email from one of my sisters. They had the family Easter Egg hunt today. The older kids put the eggs out, then had to act as scarecrows, the seagulls would swoop down and grab the plastic eggs! She said that all the kids cleaned up with the Easter candy.

She also casually mentioned that she is expecting a baby in September. She wanted to be the first to tell me. This is number 9 for her and her husband. Wow. She is also 45, and her dr is worried. But so far, everything is fine. She had an ultrasound, and the baby is a boy. So I will be an aunt once again. Pretty fun. :)

And I made rolls, by hand today. I'd forgotten how satisfying it is to knead bread by hand.

Well, congratulations, Auntie! ..... :-)

That's cute about the older kids having to play scarecrow .... LOL!

I've been meaning to mention something to you. I know it's been awfully dry in Utah. As I had mentioned last summer and early fall, we were listed as being in extreme drought conditions ..... piers on the river were high and dry with grass growing out beyond the end of them.

..... Well, starting in October, we've had rain
and rain ...
and more rain
and yet more rain.

We've had flash flood warnings about 3 times in the last month. Those piers on the river have almost been under water. I even heard on the radio the other day that they are even saying that the water table is nearly back to normal after a 4 year drought.

So there is hope! Frankly, right now we're all saying "Enough already!" I wish we could share with Utah, Colorado, and the other states who need the water so much.

From what I hear, Utah has been rainy and snowy. But the snowpack is still about 25% below normal. They're talking of rationing water this summer. It would be way cool if there was a way to share the water.

Just waiting for the former POWs to appear.

High Flight, by John Gillespie Magee, a British aviator. (this was written when he was nineteen, he died in war soon after).

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of
sun-split clouds,--and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless falls of air...
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, nor eer eagle flew--
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high, untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

I haven't seen any television today.........this morning I had to make ice cream and color eggs; then we brought our Easter baskets to church to be blessed and went out for lunch..............then we went to Mary Jane's wake............then I took a little nap.......then I went and played for church, which lasted two hours and fifteen minutes....then I came home and got the table set up for tomorrow's brunch.......now I have to go to bed because in six hours I have to get up and go back to church.:)

So...........

Fourteen angels to you, my dear FRiend.:)

...and Happy Easter! Alleluia!!! He Is Risen!!!
