We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
ABU ABBAS, THE MASTERMIND OF THE ACHILLE LAURO HIJACKING, IS CAPTURED IN IRAQ
LARGE TERRORIST TRAINING FACILITY DISCOVERED JUST OUTSIDE BAGHDAD
Representatives from the United States, North Korea, and China will be meeting in China next week.
American forces shut down an illegal oil pipeline serving Syria.
President Bush and President Chirac spoke for the first time in two months yesterday; the conversation was described as "business-like."
The Palestinian Authority insists that Washington free Abu Abbas, saying it violates the Oslo Peace Accords, signed by UOx42.
Speaking of the former President, at a forum by Conference Board, he made the following remarks:
"We can't run. If you got an interdependent world, and you cannot kill, jail or occupy all your adversaries, sooner or later you have to make a deal."
And: He said he believed Washington overreacted to German and French opposition to US plans for military action against Iraq.
And, the topper(!): "Since September 11, it looks like we can't hold two guns at the same time. If you fight terrorism, you can't make America a better place to be."
I'm not making that stuff up, folks!
But unlike him...
We will not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Bye! One more item, the seven ex-POWs just landed at Ramstein, Germany. There may be some good stories tonight.

Dog, my trip to the battlefields was great. Every state that fought in Vicksburg in the early part of the 1900's shiped or had built monuments, including a lot of armies and companys, batteries. They did not shy away on expense. Lots of men lost there, both sides. Here we are today putting the wounded on plans flying them to Germany and during those times, on horses for miles and miles. Yep, it was a wonderful trip, kinda makes you feel like you were there fighting along beside them.

That's how Gettsyburg feels. In fact, you can actually "see" the lines and lines of Rebels coming across the open field toward the Yankees. The whole battle seems to play in your head - almost as if you were there.

Daughter #2 and I just caught 5 more fish. Now there are 10 fish waiting to be cleaned. Daughter wants to cook them and take them to our new neighbors. Hmmmmmm....I don't want to offend them with such a puny offering.
We tried some new catfish bait. It's crawfish and chicken blood in a moldable form. Nothing. The only catfish we've pulled out of there was a week ago and was one that I had bought at the co-op in February to try to increase our catfish population.

Today is the worst day of my life. I buried my beloved Samora today. The love of my life is gone.
She had been fighting cancer for several months, and last Tuesday a week ago, we learned there was no hope. She passed last Saturday afternoon.
I have posted little in recent months. Most of my time was spent caring for her.
Many years ago I wrote a song for us. A few of the lines were:
Our song keeps running through my head tonight
It brings back memories when love was new.
When we had all Tomorrows and there were no Yesterdays
And we sang our song in perfect harmony.
Now there are no tomorrows for my darling and I .... There are only yesterday's memories. But tonight our song will not stop playing in my head and it hurts because I will never get to hold her close and sing it to her again.
There is no need to respond. I am just trying to cope by posting thoughts to help come to terms with my grief.

That is terrific.
I am going to post this poem in the Canteen.
I hope that you do not mind.
I will wait a bit in case you do mind.

I have a feeling that this has been sent to almost everyone here several times already, but I think today was the first time I've seen it so I'm risking it.
U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld apologized today for referring to France and Germany as an "Axis of Weasels." "I'm sorry about that Axis of Weasels remark," said Mr. Rumsfeld. "I didn't mean to dredge up the history France and Germany share of pathetic compliance with ruthless dictators."
The Defense Secretary said he was "way out of bounds" with the comments.
"I should have known better than to remind people that these two nations which live in freedom thanks only to the righteous might of America, Britain and their allies that these nations are morally and politically bankrupt, and have failed to learn the lessons of history," he said. "It really was an inappropriate thing to say you know, the 'Axis of Weasels' thing. I really should not have called them the 'Axis of Weasels.' I think it's the 'Weasels' part that was most offensive - you know, when I said that France and Germany form an 'Axis of Weasels.' Of course, I'm so sorry".
The Defense Secretary continued, "I want it to be known that no other man holds the weasel in as high a regard as I do, and I'll be the first to point out the crucial role this noble creature plays in our ecosystem. I went way over the line comparing the weasel to a bunch of rude, unwashed, leftist Euroweenie surrender monkeys who change their underwear once a month whether they need to or not. And I just did it again, didn't I? I just insulted the monkeys. I'm quitting while I'm ahead."

I've been swapping e-mails with the military liason to the Texas Chef's association. I got an invite to go back to visit my Combat Services training school down in San Antonio. Only this time as a civilian wearing my chef's whites. ;>)
To: Common Tator
So sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved Samora.
Rejoice and be glad in the years that you had together and remember that the love will always be there.

I feel very awkward and sad that my post followed Common Tator's
My post seems to be irreverant.
I feel uncomfortable about that.

Oh, I am so very sorry! I will keep you in my prayers.
While you can rest assured that God has welcomed her home, I know that your pain is hard to bear right now.

Don't mind at all -- it was sent by a good friend via e-mail today. Wish I knew who the author was.
