Just this morning FoxNews reported the Iraqi General responsible for air defense was canned.
Well that begs the question, then. ...just what does "canned" xlate to in Iraqi.

I also read (somewhere on here) where a couple of witnesses said that the RG came out after the marketplace bombing and cleaned up before the cameras got there.

Most of the mainstream media don't want to report this, since this type of news is non-productive for their propaganda. (slam the Americans...)Even propagandists can't manipulate these types of findings if they don't have the missle and bomb fragments with English on them. If they have arabic on them, they need to hide it to preserve the image that it is the Mean Ole' 'Mericans.

Firing the ADM would be prudent if his missle and AAA batteries can't bring down missles coming into RG sites and destroying the Presidential Palaces (who'd want them when they are nothing but rubble...) Maybe he was fired 'cause he didn't have the propaganda proof to show the Iraqi people that the bombs are American?

Those missiles aren't flying too straight. I wonder why!?

He said they are fireing off missle after missle and they aren't hitting our planes and they have to come down somewhere.

Especially since they are often "volley" firing them, without first locking a radar onto the targets. If you lock a radar on, or even fire the radar up at all, you are likely to find yourself with a HARM up where the sun don't shine.

Its just a suggestion, but it looks like they could have possibly been cooked off in the initial air strikes, and are flying around wildly because of damage to their airframes, boosters, etc.

Looks to me they are completely screwed up with their missile defense system in Baghdad

Well, that's what you get when you buy your missles through a third party and one of them is a guy named 'Boris'.

Well, the argument for this thread, I think, DOES "beg the question" in a coupla areas:

"Since these smoke trails come out of the explosions, then they must be from Iraqi ordnance, and the Iraqis are therefore responsible for ordnance hitting civilian centers."

This may be correct speculation, but it is fallacious to conclude anything about the fires from this picture of smoke.

"Abdul, praised be Allah that we have the incredibly stupid press,
and especially the New York Times and the bedded American TV reporters
who remain dumber than regurgitated Syrian hamster puke.
Abdul, who else would believe this shallow pothole from our very own missile was a powerful American cruise missile impact?"

Re: "volley" firing

That's an intersting analysis, and I would have to agree that since they don't have much of any radar left, volley fire is all they can do.

My question is this: Is it indicative of SAMS (what ever type the Iraqis use) for their propellant to ignight as the SAM site cooks off it's missles in an attack ?

I am not a photoanalyst but I see nothing convincing in the photo.

Nods. In fact the trail could just as easily be one of our cruise missles coming over the horizon making adjustments in approaching the target.

In all due respect we in the demolition business call those "kick outs". IMO ,based on 26 years in Explosive Ordnance Disposal, the bombing of the site had munitions..... thus secondary explosions that "kicked out" SAM's and other munitions into the close by civilian areas and did the damage you speak of.

Most SAM's have a timed self destruct to preclude falling back on those that launched it properly. The amount of flash in the picture suggest something that had a rocket motor attached and was severly damaged and came from inside the bombed site.

Stay Safe !

I appears we are hitting Iraqi weapons positions, and the subsequent fires are lighting off their ammo.

canned or killed - that is the question.

This time next week, privates will be in charge inside baghdad - in charge of cleaning up dead iraqi bodies.
