Freedom Is More Than A Slogan

FREEDOM IS MORE THAN A SLOGAN

Your children will learn in school all the things that are allegedly wrong with our country; you can be sure of that. It's up to you, however, to teach them all the things that are right. Tell your children the story of our war for independence. Recite "Paul Revere's Ride" for them. Teach them the words to "The Star- Spangled Banner," to "America the Beautiful," and to "God Bless America." Read our Declaration out loud and discuss with them the "self-evident" truths that are catalogued there, along with the list of grievances against the king. Tell them what happened to the men who dared to sign that document, how they gave everything they had for a cause they believed in. Watch "The Patriot" together, at least once a year. Review our Constitution and our Bill of Rights with your children. Make sure they understand and appreciate their liberty. That's the only way they'll keep it.

Check out Duplantier Creative's three print ads and one audio spot featured in the Freedom Ads Contest (http://www.freedomads.org/index.php?all=1). The titles are "Constitution," "Slogan," "Serve," and "Mad About US/The History Chant." (You can rate them if you want to.)

Below are the individual links for the four ads. You can rate them on a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the highest). There are more than 100 ads on the site, but these are easily the best. Most of the rest are illogical liberal rants, or just plain insipid.

1. [Protect The] Constitution http://www.freedomads.org/live/entries.php?id=164

2. [Freedom Is More Than A] Slogan http://www.freedomads.org/live/entries.php?id=165

3. [Free To] Serve http://www.freedomads.org/live/entries.php?id=166

4. Mad About US/The History Chant http://www.freedomads.org/live/entries.php?id=172

FREEDOM IS MORE THAN A SLOGAN

Yeah, you gotta thump-a-bible, wave-a-flag and wanna to nuke a foreign nation then you got the neo-con ideal of freedom covered.

You got something against bibles & flags?

As for Operation Iraqi Freedom, President Bush is doing roughly the same thing Thomas Jefferson did when he sent the Marines to clean out the pirates in Tripoli.

I think I like the "Constitution" one best, but I gave all four a 5 rating.

Here's the text of the Constitution ad:

The Constitution protects our freedom, but we must protect the Constitution: against presidents, legislators, and judges who distort the clear, original intent of our Founding Fathers. It's in the nature of government to enlarge itself, and to infringe upon our freedom as it expands. Our government has already grown far beyond its proper limits. Instead of ceding more freedom, we should strive to reclaim what we've already lost.

That says it all. On a scale of 1 to 5, I'd say it's a 10.

That's a good one. Heck, they're all good. I'm still partial to "Slogan," but the one titled "[Free to] Serve" is a winner too. In fact, I think it's the only one in the whole batch that makes the essential connection between freedom and religion. The text is right on target:

It has been said before, but it bears repeating, that freedom itself is not free, and that eternal vigilance is the price of it. What needs to be said, however, is what freedom really is. In truth, there is no freedom but the freedom to serve. Freedom consists of nothing but a choice of masters. We will serve God, or we will serve mammon. We will obey the promptings of our hearts, or we will follow the dictates of our livers. There is no other choice; there is no other freedom. And if we do not make a conscious decision, we will serve the devil by default.

Amen, brother!

Just two more days 'til the contest ends. Send out an alert to all your lists and tell them to go to these four links and give each ad a 5.
