US Apache helicopters battled with the Iraqi Second Armored Brigade of the Medina Division. AA fire brought down at least one helicopter; Iraq claimed two craft were brought down.
Saddam addressed the people of Iraq and promised victory soon while discussing many of the recent battles.
Syria claims a US missile hit a bus near the Iraq/Syria border, killing five.
US forces are engaging the enemy at the Karbala Gap.
Fighting continues at An Nasariyah.
Among targets struck in Baghdad, coalition aircraft struck a building belonging to the Iraqi Air Force.
Air raid sirens sounded in the city of An Mawsil yesterday.
Two British soldiers are missing after a skirmish in southern Iraq.
US officials still have not determined what was in the plant they secured at the city of Najaf - about 90 miles south of Baghdad - though they do believe the center was part of the process of producing chemical weapons in Iraq.
US Marines secured a regional headquarters of the Ba'ath Party in Umm Qasr yesterday. In the building were stacks of American leaflets the Marines believed Ba'ath Party members rounded up so they wouldn't be seen by the population.
Remember to not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

(That means the Marines are about the distance from Lancaster to Philly about now....;-)) Or about the distance from Washington to Fredericksburg.
To: Bitwhacker
Oh my, Bit......x42 ignoring a situation as serious as this? Goodness me, noooooooo....he was always on top of something or another, wouldn't you say? Always on the lookout.
Seriously, when Arabia was cut up, I think we Westerners were ignorant of so many things that we are aware of and know today. I think they thought eventually the waring factions in each country would learn to live with one another and come together as one "state", as the European countries have done.
I think they did not know the depth of the islamic religion, and the islamic leaders wish to islamicize the whole world under their control. We know today what they think of us and hopefully we will be able to "stabilize" their intent to eliminate all who do not embrace their way of life and their religion. Islamic thinking is barbarous and uncivilized, as proven by the "smoke ring" surrounding Bagdad. By the way who came up with the name Bagdad? Bag Dad?

I was watching "Frontline" on PBS last night, the series is titled "The War Behind Closed Doors", and the episode that I partially saw last night was titled "The Battle of Ideas." The timing is 1998, the White House has called the leading lights of foreign policy (Paul Wolfowitz, Donald Rumsfeld, Colin Powell, Richard Perle are the ones I remember). They were invited to come to the White House and talk with Sandy Berger, who was x42's National Security Advisor at that time. The subject was what to do with Saddam Hussein and Iraq. Wolfowitz and Rumsfelds' points of view were pretty much in line with what is happening right now, but when they walked out of the White House, their response was that "Berger felt like it wouldn't look good, and they had no legal grounds." And probably hadn't focused grouped it enough. A couple of days later x42 had the military bomb Iraq for four days, and that was that. What made me drop my teeth was the narrator's matter-of-fact statement "And once again Saddam Hussein won." I must have fallen asleep shortly after that, because that is all I can remember of the episode.
Here is the link, there are six episodes that you can watch with Windows Media or Real Player. The War Behind Closed Doors

Ooooh hooo hoo hoo hoo!!! I do believe you are trying to get me started!!!!!
Well, while we are on this strain...;-)
We should trot out the fact that UOx42 has inextricable ties with the Riyadi family, from...wait for it...INDONESIA....
And maybe we should discount the connections UOx2 had with the PRC....because 'We like your President'....
nd maybe we shouldn't care that Hitlery had connections with the Black Panthers....
But I know that you weren't trying to goad me into an argument, so .....THERE....(hehehehehehe)

It gets rather depressing when you start looking at all the facts about the x42 family, doesn't it?

Don't worry: Hitlery would self-destruct as it were......
To: Bitwhacker
I keep thinking that, but she is sure calling the shots in the Senate, at least amongst the Democrats, she has her minions controlling the purse strings (MacAwful) at the DNC. I think it will really depend on how the economy is and how the war is going if she runs or not in 2004. 2008 I think is a lot iffy for her.

re. Sandy Berger.
On one hand, one wants to pity the fool. You just know he knew right. OTOH, he caved. Just like the rest of the Clintons. How pathetic that Georgie Stepholitis and Robert (fourth) Reich are the only ones to have survived with reputations intact. Seriously. Who's heard from Carville since last November. Who's heard from Clinton in the last few days?
We'll hear plenty from him if things to awry in Iraq. If things get tough, we won't hear from him so long as there's a hope we'll win. We'll only hear from him afterwards, saying it should have been done better.
Don't worry about these fools. They're buried already. Oh, and the wife, Hitlery, I doubt she'll ever get the Dem nomination. Did you see the Miss America pagean tonight? I stumbled upon it while looking for war news on my rabbit-ears TV (i.e. no cable). I heards an "in depth" segment in which the girls talked politics. Half of 'em were conservative. One even blamed all the evil in the world on the removal of prayer from public schools! Another said that guns ought be prohibited only from criminals. I nearly died.

Hi.
To: kayak
Hello! Just wanted to say hi before posting the pics and calling it a night ... I'm tired. Been busy today following the live war thread between chores and a baseball game. It was great seeing your pic from the rally, Kay. You look good and had a great sign.
