I dumped Instant Messenger because it was a nuisance.
I don't care for it imposing an instantaneous obligation to chat with close friends and family whenever they happen to get online.
I figure we communicate quite often as it is, and anything truly important is just as quickly sent by email. But with friends, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, etc. etc. all popping up instantly, I'd never get anything else accomplished.

My boss (one of them at least) uses it to annoy me when I'm freepin' at home. So for every time he annoys me at home, I freep at work to make up for it. (PLUS INTEREST!!!)

Same here. I'd as soon talk on the telephone, and I hate talking on the telephone.

Same with me. It seems like everytime the IM's are running I get a constant barrage of annoying contacts. To make matters worse there are 5 people at my house using one computer. AIM, Yahoo, and Lord knows how many IM's (not to mention file swapping programswith their own IM) are always running so I get IM'd not just by my contacts but Wife's and Kid's friends.

That said, I think this IS a good idea. I'll have to dig around and figure out my Yahoo account. When I do I'll pass it along and try to keep it running, especially at work.
