Camcorder Advice Needed (Vanity)

I need to get a new digital camcorder for use in filming underwater subjects. I have been told that the Sony TRV 950 is an excellent choice. I have been told that it is more user friendly than the VX 2000 or the Canon equivalent.

I was watching the 2003 Consumer Electronics Show on HGTV the other night, and they showed a new camcorder made by Sony that recorded directly to a dvd disc. How cool is that?

Extremely cool. I prefer DV tape and then a burn to DVD, as editting is easier and layering in audio is a lot easier.
