Survivor 6: The Amazon
Posted on 02/11/2003 4:56:24 AM PST by cuz_it_aint_their_money
Well, Im back.
Sort of.
My wife, (the lovely and gracious, Mrs. CUZ) has laid down the law!
Youre spending too much time FReeping and not enough time paying attention to me!
Women! Go figure!
Anyway, my FReeping has been severely curtailed, so Ill start this thread, and from time to time, spout off with my two cents worth, but someone else will have to maintain the ping list and post weekly recaps (If they feel so inclined).
If someone wants the ping list, FReepmail me and Ill send it to them.
Till then,
Enjoy,

arrg the guys were doing it right first by hitting the rope... trying to cut a rope by sawing it with a dull machete just doesn't work. That first rope popped right apart when they hit it. Oh well...hopefully worthless daniel will be gone now.

FR finally seems to be back up although slow.
To: Noslrac
As a sailor, I knew as soon as I saw all those knots, this challenge would be very easy for SeeBS to manipulate.
Prior to the tribes getting to the challenge, it would be too easy to unlevel the playing field. The guy's knots could be pulled tighter dry, make them wet, and other things to slow them down to compensate for their stronger hands. It could also be used to over-compensate for their stronger hands.
The rigged equipment was the downfall for the guys.

I thought the girls were toast too.
Bu-bye Dan.
To: HighWheeler
haha dan is gone...yay... maybe the guys can win some stuff now.

As a former sailor, I thought the same thing.
I was wondering about the relative strength of the blue rope vs. the yellow.
To: mystery-ak
No one has screwed up more than dan...he has been messing up everything from the start.

I would agree roger is annoying, but he hasn't hurt the tribe as much as dan. Maybe the can get some work done now.

If Team Estrogen wins the Ugly Idol, Dan gets the boot.
If Team Testosterone wins the Ugly Idol, Joanna gets the boot. Three for three!!! Well done!
To: Noslrac
Seeing Dan get the boot was worth it. What a lazy, good for nuthin, Challenge-challenged idiot. Can't even walk a balance beam, sheeeeesh.
Some of the babes need some food now if they expect to go 30 more days.....

Can you hear me now?
Godspeed little post as I cast you out in to the depths of cyberspace where so many of your brothers have been lost tonight

Folks, I cannot wait for Joanna to get the boot. If I hear her singing some made up song called "Ohhhhhh Gloooorrry" one more time, I'm going to puke! She is so unbelievably annoying.

Good point about the food. But, it seems like the ladies might have figured out the fishing part. That last one they pulled out was a keeper.
I'm a guy, but I say, good for the girls on this version of Survivor. The smartest thing they did, was sit down, have a meeting, and push a leader forward. Like it or not, you cannot default to group decisions/discussions on everything you do. Just not efficient. Looks like Deena has that group on the right track. For this tribe, the thing I worry about is the beginning of a pretty girl/average girl clique thing starting up.
As for the guys, well they shouldn't worry too much. Most Survivors have one tribe race out to a big lead early, and the other tribe then catches up. They were organized and super-motivated early on. But it looks like, lately, they've sort of been riding the wave, relying on momentum, and playing the who-should-we-vote-out-next game. They need to re-dedicate to the tribe, catch some fish, gain some confidence. I think there's a lot of deeper stuff in Survivor, I really do. For instance, the guys have done well setting up their camp, but I don't see comraderie, and I think that can carry over into the challenges. It's tough, I know, because comraderie is usually based on trust, and trust is a touchy word in this game.
Did I mention that Survivor Amazon is probably the best Survivor since Africa? Might even be the best since the first show. They really did a good job casting, IMO.

Wow, I hate to disagree after being AWOL since Amazon started, but I really do. At least as far as it being the best since Africa. I liked it a lot at first, but this "Dating Game" sideline sucks. It was interesting to see relationships develop in the other versions -- but this is just too much like a jr. high school where the boys are checking out the girls across the room but too scared to do anything about it.
(OK, I did like the girls bathing scene -- but that's different.)
"The smartest thing they did, was sit down, have a meeting, and push a leader forward."
You got that one dead on. I think they were about to go down in flames until then.
"Looks like Deena has that group on the right track."
I hate to give credit to a lawyer, but if I'm gonna be honest I have to agree. I'm hoping her (presumed) feminazi beliefs will do her in when the tribes merge. (But I may be totally wrong in presuming she's a feminist, I'm just going with the sterotype for now.)
"For this tribe, the thing I worry about is the beginning of a pretty girl/average girl clique thing starting up."
No, no! That's the kind of thing we want to happen. That's what makes Survivor fun!
