We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our fredom, die in vain!!
There is a new tact from the anti-war crowd in the news this morning. They are calling for bringing back the draft. Reps Charlie Rangel of New York and John Conyers of Michigan have two complaints: (1) the fighting force of the Nation is composed of too high a level of minorities; and (2) they believe the US would deal with Iraq peacefully if politicians knew their children would be the one's in harms way.
The Supreme Court of California has ruled that it is rape even if sex is started with the consent of both adults, but the female changes her mind after the act has actually started.
Charles Pickering has been renominated by the Bush Administration for a Federal Appellate judgeship.
And there are two new ad spots that has been designed by Arianna Huffington of the Detroit Group which suggests that SUV owners are supporting terrorists. From the New York Times:
"This is George," a girl's voice says of an oblivious man at a gas station. "This is the gas that George bought for his S.U.V." The screen then shows a map of the Middle East. "These are the countries where the executives bought the oil that made the gas that George bought for his S.U.V." The picture switches to a scene of armed terrorists in a desert. "And these are the terrorists who get money from those countries every time George fills up his S.U.V."
A second commercial depicts a series of ordinary Americans saying things like: "I helped hijack an airplane"; "I gave money to a terrorist training camp in a foreign country"; "What if I need to go off-road?"
At the close, the screen is filled with the words: "What is your S.U.V. doing to our national security?"
YET (!!!!), these are the very same folks that do not want us to expand our domestic sources of oil by drilling in ANWR. They should sit down and shut up, because they are hypocrites - each and every one of them. Why? Because it matters not what vehicle you drive, a portion of the fuel can be argued to have come from Saudi Arabia - so they are just as guilty following their line of reasoning.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
Liberalism: the Real Cause of Today's Anti-Semitism

Thus politically correct America wages hysterical crusades against ethnic slurs or sexual comments by private individuals, while shrugging its shoulders at gross criminality and possible treason by the Presidentif he is seen as a sufficiently "tolerant" and "inclusive" person. Thus the modern liberal regime bans the merest breath of the Christian religion in public schools, while subsidizing student clubs devoted to witchcraft. Thus the mainstream media routinely attack the "oppressive" and "racist" police, while ignoring the criminality of the criminals whom the police are "oppressing." These inversions of decency and sanity are not the work of anarchists. They are the logical consequence of the central credo of modern liberalism: that all intolerance and discrimination must be eliminated. In a society dedicated to that proposition, the good itself must ultimately be seen as evil, because the good discriminates against evil, while evil must be blessed with victim status, because it is excluded by the good.
Another good quote that could be used to describe the Nazis, and secular Humanists who have turned Man into his own God:
"The clash between science and religion was supposed to be a defining characteristic of the modern age. But today's distinctive terror is modern science in the service of religious fanatics." --George F. Will
I heard that the Demoncrats only need 44 bought votes to uphold a Filibuster. Any political junkies know the truth of that??? I had also heard something about Filibusters, in that the opposing Party (in this case, elies) hasn't in recent history made it as HARD as they could acc. to the rules of Filibuster....Well, the PIckering thing should be great fun, and will require us to call and email folks. Especially ones like me who have half a Republican Senator (Collins and whatshername)

LB, the other day you referred to Bowdoin College and Brunswick. Do you live in that area? My kids are in West Bath and friends are in Bath. I love that area - Brunswick included.

I don't watch Emeril much. He makes a lot of mistakes and he's sloppy, but he is popular.
/john
I love Emeril's personality, but not his technique. Notice that he wears a wedding ring in the kitchen. How often do you think that gets sanitized?

I have an even bigger confession. Girlchild & I watched.....Joe Millionaire.......the other night.:(
Hubby has a "thing" for Jackie.
The biggest problem I have with cooking, is the starting point. I can't decide if I should shop first, look at what looks good, and then decide, or go to the store with a total plan and a mission! As a chef, you can take any suggestion, and have an idea of what to do with it.....I've seen you do it. I'd love to get to that stage!
So do I. I find her repulsive. But, hey, different tastes for different folks. ;>)
Besides, her wardrobe person has to be an intern from the State School for the Blind.

I'm sure Mr. ML would consider your remarks to be heresy.:)
I like that 30-minute meals show because it's the only one where I think I'd have half a chance at succeeding with the recipes. Hubby has done quite a few Emeril things, and one or two Mario things also.
