I laughed at this, when asked if TTT wasn't a bit too much for his kids:
"Nah, not for our kids. Our kids were on the set. They cuddled the Orcs with their rubber masks and they know the names of the stunt guys that are wearing those masks, so they can see through all that. They know exactly what they're seeing."
I recognized the two PJ cameos, on second view, and also recognized his boy at Helm's Deep. Those kids do live in a carnival of a world, don't they?
Why does every stinking entertainment reporter always have to throw a political question into interviews with celebrities? I'm glad to see that PJ was sharp enough to artfully dodge it... I'll never understand why any entertainer would willingly piss off half of their potential audience by making an overt political statement. Viggo Mortensen showing up to that Larry King interview with that asinine "No Blood for Oil" t-shirt is one example... I don't give a rat's ass what Peter Jackson's politics are and I'm glad he kept the interviewer in the dark about it.
Ring Ping!! |
Meek, weren't we talking about this very thing the other night? How likely would this approach have been, had these films been made in Hollywood, by all of the superegos there?
They wouldn't have been able to resist the temptation. They would've slipped SOMETHING political (and probably Liberal) into it...and immediately driven half of their audience into the hills.
Peter Jackson just continues to impress me.
For us, as filmmakers, that sort of thing creates a bit of a problem because we've spent a lot of time in the last film and in this one to establish this ring as incredibly powerful. Then to suddenly come to a character that says, "Oh, I'm not interested in that," to suddenly go against everything that we've established ourselves is sort of going against our own rules.
This is complete crap. This guy is trying to tell me that he wasn't aware of the entire story while making the first third of the movie. I don't believe this for one second. Peter Jackson is a loser, who had his chance and blew it. THAT IS TOTALLY (and, no doubt purposefully) ANTITHETICAL TO THE SPIRIT OF TOLKIEN'S FARAMIR!!!
Peter Jackson: Political. Well, I don't quite know in what context politics comes into it. There are certainly themes Tolkien felt were important. We made a promise to ourselves at the beginning of the process that we weren't going to put any of our own politics, our own messages or our own themes into these movies.
This guy is an abject liar! He totally changed the counsel of the Ents to get in his PC environmental crap.

Yes, exactly. On this article here.....
Increasing number of celebrities use appeal to back
causes - Hollywood buffet of Political meltdowns
Thanks for the ping here your input on that article !
You must have read a different interview than the one I posted. Jackson never said that he wasn't aware of the entire story while making these films. That would have been pretty hard since they shot all three at once.
Would you mind posting the quote where he says he wasn't aware of the entire story? Thanks.
Me too, really!
I haven't seen the film yet, which "PC environmental crap" would that be?
