I find that JJones is entertaing hiring somebody that knows something about football an enjoyable break from the way he has run his business the last 7 or 8 years.
The fact it is Parcells' name who has surfaced is even more enjoyable, however Tim Cowlishaw had the rare insightful column today and brought up a good point or two.
First, all of Parcells' lieutenants are scattered throughout the NFL coaching landscape, much as JJohnson's were when he tried to repeat his magic in Miami.
Secondly, he will be forced to deal with whatever assistant coaches he can round up and JJones could have undue influence in this area.
If JJones is indeed looking to improve the coaching staff, and I do believe he had an epiphany after the SF loss, I would try to once again capture the magic of a college coach coming in with "his gang".
JJohnson did this in '89 and I think a Stoops' or Willingham kind of college coach could od the same now.
It would take a bit longer because there will be no Herschel Walker blockbuster again, but a savvy college coach knows the talent coming out of school for the next several years, much as JJohnson did.
Anyway kick that around.

That's a real good point. It probably would make more sense for Jones to look to the college coaches (+ staff) if he want to take a fresh approach in Dallas.

He probably wont though. If he cant reach a deal with Parcells, he probably will start going after Mariuchi(sp?) in SF. I get the feeling that he is going to go after a "big" name this time.
