C.S. Lewis, a distinguished professor of English, died in 1963 at his home in Oxford

Folks probably don't even remember when he died. His death was overshadowed by a more violent event on Nov. 22, 1963.

I hope that the Christian messages will not be papered over in this production. Unlike Tolkien who said that his stories were not religious allegory, Lewis was very open about having included Christian references in the Narnia books.

OK, so I funkled! It is a very sloppy, rainy COLD day here, so I'm having some nice warm coffee and catching up on FR.

Our 13 yr. old went on a Boy Scout campout today HAH! The silly thing didn't wear his warm coat, nor did he bring his boots to keep his feet warm, or a blanket to put inside his sleeping bag tonight. I guess he needs to internalize that Boy Scout Motto "Be Prepared". He packed all his stuff last night, and I didn't check it. SSQ took him up to the school to see him off because I was making candy with the Girl Scouts this morning (no rest for the wicked, huh?)

So he'll come home half frozen tomorrow after having done a 10 mile hike in wet sneakers. He said he DID pack an extra pair of wool socks, so maybe that will help. Serves him right; maybe he'll pay closer attention next time! At least it's not going below freezing tonight; it's only supposed to get down to the mid-40s.

JFK, C.S.Lewis, Aldous Huxley all died on 11/22/63

We had liberal friends who were appalled that the Mrs. and I got married on November 22. I told them we were using music from Camelot...(they have since come to their political senses...)

I had at one time found an on-line recording of an interview with JRR Tolkien in which he stated unequivocally that his Christian view of the world was apparent in all his works. That's not the same as allegory, though. Don't know if I could find that link now, but it was wonderful to hear the man's voice - I wasn't born until after his death.

If you take the link I posted above to Corin Stormhands you will see that Douglas Gresham, the step-son of CS Lewis, is very involved with the production of the live-action movie, and (as always) dedicated to the truth of the story as originally told. Hooray!

I just reread "The Great Divorce" today. It's interesting. Very interesting.

Hi all. My grandmother is gone! My room was rearranged whilst I was out and I think I like it. Nice and roomy. So what's up?
