Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I think the crisis is well on the way to being averted. I sat down with her tonight, let her watch over my shoulder as I gave her a guided tour of FR, showed her some of your profile pages, read through portions of the thread, showed her the Yahoo side too, even went into chat to show her how that worked.... I could feel the tension easing off from her as she began to understand. (*AHEM* But that Elijah tatoo pic didn't exactly help -- went real fast past that...LOL!). And then, I popped the question: would you consider going with me to meet......gasp......some of these normal human beings, e.g. DT and ecurbh for MN moot. And she said....."maybe"..... That's good, that's very good, that means probably, I think. Oh I feel much better now.....
I would like to apologize for throwing such a depressing cold wet blanket into the Hole earlier today.... but think how I felt. That quote about Gimli leaving for a greater love had double meaning for me.... I was agonizing.... But I really think things are going to be OK.... Thanks for all your support.... See ya tomorrow...

Hi Corin, hi all. I had a long day and religion class was... interesting. There's this one person, I'm almost ok with the militant lesbian atheist bit she's got going but she also acts as if that excuses her from manners, or doing her assignments. Thankfully she's not in my group. I have nice, normal people who are Presbyterian or love science fiction or have something in common with me....

Let your wife know that we are all eager to meet you and your family. It will be a great time for all of us, no doubt. :)
It's tough to explain the Hobbit Hole to our significant others, but you did the right thing by letting her see for herself. We're LoTR fans, yes, but we all are ordinary people with ordinary lives that just happen to have extra-ordinary friends!

Well, my hobbity friends, as I've expected for a little bit of time now, the Board that I have worked for informed me today that my time with them was over (fired). They indicated they were willing to negotiate with me (they have to be given how much I know). So, I'm meeting with an attorney tomorrow to discuss negotiations and wrongful dismissal actions.
I cannot say I'm terribly upset about all this, as work was getting unbearable. Time for me to move on to something completely different...and outside of a government like that in this ultra-leftist state. An opportunity, I think.
