Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

To: Dawntreader
Well.....how about hanging with Legolas until he leaves for the Grey Havens. But by then, Eomer will be an old man or already spoken for.

I'm afraid I actually did that to Hair once...not that extreme, but I rushed to get off line because Steve was coming home any minute. I forgot there was something I wanted to tell her, but by the time I got the computer booted up, logged back on to the internet and all, I was sure Steve would come in and be very grumpy. So I called her! I said "Hiiiii!!" like I call her all the time and she said "Hi!" back like she heard from me every day! LOL
I did reassure her that I don't often call people out of the blue, though...and I haven't since.
To: RMDupree
See you later then, Ruthy.
To: Overtaxed
Did Legolas leave on the same boat w/ Frodo? I can't remember. Seems like not for a few years later, if I remember right, and took Gimli w/ him, I think. However, maybe Galadriel was on that boat.
Going out, see everyone later.

I pretty much agree w/ your assessment of tv, don't watch it much, though Jeanne and I had liked watching Roswell together. She likes Alias as well.
Mostly, I think a computer is better entertainment than tv.
To: Sam Cree
That's right...it is rumored that Gimli left with Legolas and that Galadriel intervened on his behalf to allow his entry into Valinor...they were the last to leave, I think, after King Elessar died and M and P.
The bearers of the 3 Elven Rings left with Frodo and Bilbo. Gandalf, Elrond and Galadriel. Celeborn left later on, after living with Elrond's sons in Rivendell for a while.

I did reassure her that I don't often call people out of the blue, though...and I haven't since. You can call me any time you like!
To: Sam Cree
Gotta go...cub scout night tonight, so I'll be back!
To: Sam Cree
I have both the TV and the computer on 24 hours a day! though hours go by without me hearing much that is happening on the TV.... I just leave it on the news... and listen for the Breaking News jingles.

From Appendix A
Durin's FolkAfter the fall of Sauron, Gimli brought south a part of the Dwarf-folk of Erebor, and he became Lord of the Glittering Caves. He and his people did great works in Gondor and Rohan. For Minas Tirith they forged gates of mithril and steel to replace those broken by the Witch-king. Legolas his friend also brought south Elves out of Greenwood, and they dwelt in Ithilien, and it became once again the fairest country in all the westlands. But when King Elessar gave up his life Legolas followed at last the desire of his heart and sailed over Sea.
We have heard tell that Legolas took Gimli Gloin's son with him because of their great friendship, greater than any that has been between Elf and Dwarf. If this is true, then it is strange indeed: that a dwarf should be willing to leave Middle-earth for any love, or that the Eldar should receive him, or that the Lords of the West should permit it. But it is said that Gimli went also out of desire to see again the beauty of Galadriel; and it may be that she, being mighty among the Eldar, obtained this grace for him. More cannot be said of this matter.
