The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

My inner-Pippin told me something was up...so we have a potential Billy Boyd fan, eh? One thing I have noticed about him is he appears to be VERY conscientious about the clothing he wears, but is not afraid of wearing what he likes. I posted the picture in the LOTR Hunk Thread (what happened to everyone there?!? I'm not ready to stop drooling!!!)
Anyway, here it is: If you think they're sexy...

I think one thing that helped bring (my wife) Jeanne around was that Rush made a favorable comment on his show about FR when he saw Paul Atreides' montage of Rush's head on Michael Jackson's body. She likes Rush, so the mention of FR on his show gave us some credibility in her eyes.
Now that she has met 2 inhabitants of the hole and their spouses (and one adorable daughter) in RL, and seen that they are very nice and attractive folks, rather than whatever it was that she feared, she is better about it all, even to sounding interested in some of the stories about us that have surfaced.
The idea of cyber friends still freaks her a little, though.
It was a nice time, Saturday.

Yesterday's conversation with Little Miss Giggle Face, Rothy's daughter:
Weather conditions: wet, nasty, COLD after loud thunderstorm with Blue Norther came through this morning.
Place: church grounds.
Daughter: "Mama, I'm taking a short cut" (as she heads across the soggy grass towards the ditch)
Mama: "No you don't! Remember what Pippin said to Frodo!"
Daughter gets look of dread on her face.
Mama: "Short cuts make long delays!"
Daughter: "Oh, MOTHER. You're gonna drive me nuts with THAT stuff again!"
Mama: "Well, you know Pippin was right."
Daughter walks through deep puddle to compensate for not getting to walk through ditch.
Mama: "Pippin's always right."
Daughter: "Sure, Mama."

"Frodo does have a 'connection' with the Riders"
I believe it is because the ring and his wound are gradually drawing him into the "shadow world."

Thank goodness we had all seen it before, except for Sam's wife. (I wish she had because of the theatre's speaker problem.)
Based on this particular theatre-going experience, you would think that Frodo got that look on his face because he was trying to figure out where that crackling sound was coming from!

Gosh I hope I don't do anything really weird when I meet her! Note to Hair: Bringing Frodo along would NOT be proof of sanity.

Hi Ruthy, I did have a nice time.
My wife's favorite kind of movies are action adventure, so it was pretty much of a given that she would like TTT. In fact she likes it better than FOTR.

Well, now that she has met Ruthy and ksen, she is actually taking a little interest in the inhabitants. I am looking for that picture of you at the range that was up the other day to show her.
To: HairOfTheDog
I hope I don't do anything really wierd when I meet any of you!!! I'm afraid you all already think I'm a bit cracked.
Just don't bring up tacky maps or haikus and I'll do just fine. The gash thing has been resolved, although it still rankles a bit that some doubted...
;-)

The idea of cyber friends still freaks her a little, though. That is exactly the crux of the issue. And if I cannot overcome it, I will likely be leaving the Hole, and possibly FR, for good....
To: Sam Cree
Too bad her first viewing had so many irritating distractions. :(
I told Glen that I was so embarrassed since this theatre was MY idea and that I chose it specifically for its digital sound system. *blushing*
I'd never had any problems at all on prior visits to MUVICO, so it would figure that this one time there would be enough problems to make up for it!

I'll be posting the pics tonight. Have your wife take a look at us and remind her that none of us had EVER seen each other before. As a matter of fact, I'd never even heard any of their voices until the very week we were to meet!
And if I cannot overcome it, I will likely be leaving the Hole, and possibly FR, for good....
Say it ain't so!!!
Honestly, I admire you for that. At this point you'd have to pry my mouse from my cold, dead hands!

Thanks RM, I look forward to seeing the pictures. I will show them to her.... And I have some other strategies in mind also. There is still hope!

Why is an online friend different than any other relationship to your wife? Or is it? I am curious!
