Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Oooo....looky. Cookies in the mail! Thanks!
To: Overtaxed; JenB
Well! - At least a partially successful day then! Sorry jen.
To: Overtaxed
How are they?

JB,OT,HOD: Good ones, "that's not construction, that's renovation" was my answer to the noisy ones.
And on the JRRT front: my lil buddy in red, white & blue truck just dropped off the long awaited, much anticipated "The New Atlas of Middle Earth" by Karen Wynn Forstad (revised edition) It is absolutely great. Maps, Maps & More Maps, with appropriate text. First, Second and Third Ages, Regional, Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Thematic Maps; Also cross-sections of topography under many of the plan view topo maps; floor plans and cross-sections of etc. etc. (anybody else a map-aholic? :-)
Susan absolutely knew what would be a great brief case addition for my traveling (like 3 days next week). With my New 3-1 volume PB of LOTR (also a gift yesterday) and Atlas, I am ready to be jetted away to exotic ports of call or in this case St. Louis. Kind of amazing how much easier the new LOTR will be to read i.e. larger type on white paper. lol
Well, off now to follow one or more of favorite personalities as they journey through middle earth.

Mmm......nice and crisp! Good cookies. Munch munch much
To: osagebowman
I love a good map! I will look for that Atlas!
Let us know what happens to your characters today in Middle Earth! I have friends there too. It is such a dangerous place, I worry about them when I don't hear.
To: osagebowman
Sounds like a haul! LOL Since spring is just around the corner, I need to get my Hobbit Garden plan out and select some plants.
To: HairOfTheDog
Can I go help my friends in Middle-Earth? I could carry spare swords or something? Or... cook! Yeah, I could cook.

First time ever on this thread.
Just saw The Two Towers this afternoon.
It was good.
I own the 4-CD set of Fellowship Of The Ring and have only just begun to explore the additional materials and the commentaries.
P.S. If you think I'm going to go back and read the previous 9,210 posts on this thread, you're crazy! But I'll attempt to keep up with what follows.
To: SamAdams76
HA! Welcome, Welcome! Don't worry about back reading, we allow cheating on all of the tests!
I love the extra disks with the SE FOTR, wonderful stuff. I may pop those in now, now that you mention it.
Of the commentaries, I like the director and writers' commentary in particular.
Glad you liked TTT. I did too, particularly when I saw it again.

They just needed someone to mark the Balrog lines. I think the Moria Mines were in deep doo doo with the safety regulators. HaHa, that all would explain the cave troll maybe.
To: JenB
Well, dear girl, you might start with afternoon tea now. In RMD's absence I'm getting hungry. I come in this afternoon and there's no coffee no cakes, just some leftover bits from breakfast. I'll put on some biscuits and tea, if you can do the rest? Anybody know when the mooters will be back?
To: HairOfTheDog
You grumbled, HOTD? :^)
To: JenB; HairOfTheDog; Overtaxed
You know, someone's going to have to talk to those Dwarves... Talk to my axe, lassie...

If you think I'm going to go back and read the previous 9,210 posts on this thread, you're crazy! Not to worry, we'll cover the items in the ten substantive posts again...

In RMD's absence I'm getting hungry. You're right! We gave Ruthy the day off without scheduling a replacement!
To: Pippin
I did grumble! I was a little crabby this morning until I got some coffee in me. I was up too late! sorry. Here are some cute puppies to make up for it.
