The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

OK. I did find some really great shots of him recently at FantasyPlanet.
To: Overtaxed
Yes, I would make a fine wife for someone, making cookies all day and spreading joy!

Your muse looks better than mine! Mine is named "Sadistica, the Muse of Pain" because she only gives me anything when I'm too busy to do anything about it.

Our Florida mooters should be wandering the parking lot looking for each other by now.

I forget who are the dwarves here and who are elves, but I figured I'd show you all the transcriptions that I found on this site -
http://www.elvish.org/gwaith/movie_soundtrack.htm
This one is from The Two Towers soundtrack - Gandalf's fight with the Balrog:
(Khuzdul)
Irkat-lukhud ma
katabrikihu
Ulfat-atam ma
tanakhi uduhu
bin-nât aznân tarsisi
Bazar udu agânî-furkhîn
Gurd!
Ma nîd sakhu!
Ma satf unkhai!
Atkât zatagrafizu
Zatablugi sulluzu
Translation:
'No shaft of light
Can breach it
No breath of air
Comes from it
Only an endless dark rises
Deep from the beginnings of the world
Have fear.
Do not look down
Nor step too close
The silence will take you.
It will swallow you whole.'
This is the Lorien elves lament for Gandalf from FotR. I've been looking for this for a while, and finally found it!
Verse 1
(Quenya)
A Olórin i yáresse
Mentaner i Númeherui
Tírien i Rómenóri,
Maiaron i oiosaila
Manan elye etevanne
Nórie i malanelye?
Verse 2 and 3
(Sindarin)
Mithrandir, Mithrandir! A Randir Vithren!
Ú-reniathach i amar galen
I reniad lín ne môr, nuithannen
In gwidh ristennin, i fae narchannen
I Lach Anor ed ardhon gwannen
Calad veleg, ethuiannen.
Quenya text:
'Olórin whom long ago
sent the Lords of the West
to guard the Lands of the East,
ever-wise of the Maiar
what drove you to leave
land which you loved?'
Sindarin text:
'Mithrandir, Mithrandir, O Pilgrim Grey
No more you will wander the world green
Your journey in darkness stopped
The bonds cut, the spirit broken
The Flame of Anor has left this World
Great light has gone out.'
And, some good-old Rohirric from the "Helm's Deep" score
Héo naefre wacode dægréd
Tó bisig mid dægeweorcum
Ac oft héo wacode sunnanwanung
Ðonne nihtciele créap geond móras
And on ðaere hwile
Héo dréag ðá losinga
Earla ðinga ðe héo forléas.
Héo swá oft dréag hire sáwle sincende
Héo ne cúðe hire heortan lust.
Translation:
'She never watched the morning rising,
Too busy with the day's first chores,
But oft she would watch the sun's fading,
As the cold of night crept across the moors.
And in that moment
She felt the loss
Of everything that had been missed.
So used to feeling the spirit sink,
She had not felt her own heart's wish.'
Brilliant, brilliant stuff. My esteem, not only for Tolkien, but for PJ's vision, and Phillipa's dedication to Tolkien's linguistics, has increased tenfold.

Mrs. Stormhands should be home from her wimmin's brunch by now. Then my brother-in-law is coming over to help with our ongoing crap exchange. Sadly, we're on the receiving end today.
To: ItsOurTimeNow
Ahhhh Beautiful!
Thanks for bringing that to us!
And thanks for stopping by!
Hullo! - Good Morning!
To: Corin Stormhands
What's he bringing?
A chest of drawers?
Green glassware?
To: HairOfTheDog
Thank you thank you! It's great to be here!
I realized that I had about 2,000+ posts to catch up on, so I've definately got my work cut out for me today! lol
What have I missed?

Welcome back. Catch up, or not, at your leisure! We can help you out if the final exam covers anything you missed.

Hello again, IOTN! Do you have a preferred nickname that I have somehow missed? "Time" or something?

Are those things you need? Collect? He's bringing an office desk, that I'll use in my "new" office upstairs. I think I've told you guys that my mother-in-law is moving in. My office is currently in what is sposed to be the dining room. We'll hang doors and convert that to my mother-in-law's room. Plus we plan to put a bathroom in the garage (she can't do stairs). So I'm taking the guest room as my office.
So I'm ditching the piece of crap desk I have. He's also bringing a desk/shelf that my father-in-law made for my wife's sister (wife of this b-i-l). It will either go in the garage for stuff or if it fits in the kitchen/den for my wife to use.
Do you collect green glassware? My wife collects (not avidly) old kitchen "stuff." We have some plates one is a green glass plate with some pretty intricate detailing. I saw a show on HGTV once that told what it all meant.
She has a pretty extensive collection of ruby glass that she inherited and we've added to over the years.
Her sister collects another type of glassware. It has a trade name that I'm drawing a blank on right now, but there's also a family collection.
In our de-crapification of the house, we're starting to sell some of the smaller pieces. I've set up an eBay account, but haven't got any of those listed yet.

"Moot over Parma
Bring my love to me tonight.
Guide her to Cleveland
underneath your silvery light.
We're goin' bowlin'
so don't lose her in Solon.
Moot over Parma tonight."
Am I up to speed? lol
