The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Sixth Sense wasn't as downright scary, though, I don't think. Couple of "jump" moments, but nothing like Signs. Signs was scary!

I still think "The Mothman Prophecies" was the scariest movie I've ever seen. Maybe I'm just gullible, but the fact that it was supposedly based on real events freaked me out big time.

Me too. I still get a little shook up thinking about "Jodie" looking in the window. The book was even scarier though (isn't it always).

The first Shyamalan movie I saw was Unbreakable. That one wasn't anywhere near as scary as his other two movies.

We were looking at the bonus stuff on the DVD, and did you guys know that Shyamalan was involved in screenwriting Stuart Little? No wonder that movie freaked me out. ;^)

"I was just intimidated in joining a thread where everyone had such a tight-knit group already."

I totally understand that one. I was nervous first posting here... I felt like I would be intruding. But I stuck my nose in anyway and you guys turned out to be somewhat ok ;-)

Prosecutors find 100 uncounted ballots in Oliphant's office

Didn't someone once say something about the wheels of Justice grinding slow, but exceeding fine? Heh.

association is elf-ridden. They cannot bear to see the grass torn up for a week

*shudder*

I remember "Salem's Lot" too. That vampire floating outside the window, scratching at the glass!

AAAAAHHHHH!!! Freaked me out for weeks. Couldn't stand to be close to any dark windows.

She can't hear me asking questions! - She is deaf as a post!

Is she the spotted dog? From what I understand, Dalmatians often lose their hearing. I had a friend who worked as a sign language interpreter. She used sign language to train her Dalmatian.

Patrick Stewart needs a hug.... (he's a little bitter)

Ananova:
Patrick Stewart disappointed with fans' response to Star Trek

Patrick Stewart says he is disappointed Star Trek: Nemesis hasn't been as big at the box office as Lord Of The Rings and Harry Potter.

Star Trek: Nemesis /ImageNet

He says he thought fans would have responded to the theme of the film more positively.

And he adds the increasing use of digital technology in films such as Lord Of The Rings has made him disenchanted with movies.

"I would have expected a more positive response to the theme of our film," he told the Berliner Zeitung newspaper.

"This may be because the real world has become too dangerous for us.

"Middle Earth or Hogwarts seem to be more attractive and more comforting in these times."

"As a child, I believed what was happening on the screen with all my heart. Today, I watch Lord of the Rings and I know these armies don't exist."

~Oh yeah Patrick.... there is nothing to believe in LoTR.... Star Trek is much more "real".

We're somewhat OK for the first month? OK then that must mean that we're pretty cool in the second, good friends by the third month and by the fourth month you can't imagine what life was like before the Hobbit Hole!

After 6 months you can get away with almost anything. Except spamming, of course. ;)
