The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

This opportunity too will pass! Undoubtedly producing even more yellow snow...
To: JenB
I suppose not! - And you still have more things to look forward to than I do!

They've been wrong? It isn't as cool to be a kid as they think. I'm so glad I'm finally a person instead of just a child... Meet me here in 10-15 years. We'll talk.
To: Corin Stormhands
The yellow was not my doing, that was you!

C'mon, you have to know what I mean! Isn't it worth all the boring jobs, and bills coming due, and stupid obligations to annoying people because to some extent you control your life a little bit?

Matthew could! He started reading words at the end of his second year and was reading sentences at age 3. I would type sentences on the scrolling marquee of the computer, he would sit and stare at them until he figured it out. Usually it was something like The candy is on the bed. Next thing I know, he'd come in with the candy in his mouth.
Joshua is not that way though...so I suspect it's unusual. But then again, Matthew's always been a bit unusual.

(If I ever get anything under control, maybe I'll change my mind.)
To: JenB
Well, yeah, you do need to get out of the house.... THEN it will be the time of your life.
To: HairOfTheDog
Right. This isn't life, it's just preparation.

It looks good from where I sit. 'xcept for being put on restriction. I can do without that!

Yes, well, it's more the fact that my parents don't really see me as an adult. They have reason, since I'm not fully self-supporting - I don't pay rent or car insurance, and I eat at least one meal a day at home, but everything else I pay for - so it's really hard sometimes.

Your parents will never really see you as an adult!
And you may never really feel like an adult around them! I still don't! It'll be over before you know it, this dependence.
To: HairOfTheDog
I'm sure you're right, but I think if I ever get out of here it will help. I love them... but I'm sure I'd love them more from a thousand miles away.

You would even love them more from 5 miles away. You don't have to do this breaking away all at once! It is nice to have them near enough to visit.

Jen, my mom lectured me for 10 solid minutes about the battery running down in my car...10 solid minutes before I got disgusted and tried to change the subject...she got mad at me for getting disgusted and hung up on me. I walked around wondering when she was going to figure out I was nearly 40 years old and didn't need the lecture...
Twenty minutes later she came over and gave me 2 sirloin steaks! LOL I'll never figure her out.
To: HairOfTheDog
Good night everyone..Steve will be home soon...time for second supper!
To: 2Jedismom; JenB
You know.... I am tired too! Goodnight!
Gonna pop a movie in and hit the couch. I need to spend a bit of time with my old zulu, she isn't doing very well tonight.
