The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Wouldn't it be fun to read it for the first time? We have a few new folk in the Hobbit Hole who haven't read it until now!

By the way, the official site has a new update... a pretty cool video about Andy Serkis/Gollum... Some comparisons of his performance with the final product!

I worry less about them standing so close together than I do about what happens when they start doing the Gondorian polka...

Uh, oh, they're warming up....

Well I already know how it turns out, but there's so much more I don't know.

I love reading and then seeing quotes I know from the movies, but in a totally different spot. It's a nice little surprise :-)

Glad you're back OK from the thing. (Did a package arrive yet? FedEx says its out for delivery right now.) I'm off to see it with a group of friends tonight. Later.

Well, since I was out today, I wasn't here to sign for anything! Rats! I will check next door though. The store will sign for my stuff if the driver is confused, and they usually are, since you can't see my driveway when the doors are closed (Except by starlight, and moonlight!)

Hullo! I've had a pretty decent day. First we find out that after three years the next Harry Potter book is finally coming out, then I get inspiration for an epic. Yay me!

Now it's time for scary assembly programming...

Isn't that after Shelob when Sam realizes Frodo is still alive, but the orcs have him?

It may be when Sam gets the ladder and climbs up into the tower room where Frodo is being held.

I'm re-reading FoTR. I'm at the part where "The Ring Goes South". When SSQ read it to the kids in Fall 2001 I must not have been paying very close attention because I'm reading lot of stuff that I don't remember at all! It is fun!

An epic eh? - Now that doesn't happen every day!

How long will it take you to write this epic?

I don't know. I had an inspiration, developed three characters, four countries, and a mapp and wrote set ups for the three characters. And a knife fight.

Actually my settings are ripped from history but I need to study the Assyrians and Persians a bit for the empire...

If I don't get bored I can write about 3000 words a day. Sometimes more.

Wow, that's prolific! Our kids will begin studying 'The Ancients' in a couple of months.
