Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

LOL!! I just loved "Lord of the Peeps"! We especially like where Frodo has put the Ring for safekeeping; in full view, in a basket on the floor! I liked the Peep Sam's vest. I hadn't even noticed the real Sam's vest until I saw the Peep's vest! I looked for it the next time we watched FoTR!
I liked the SE CD with the cast interviews on it. Sean Bean was laughing about how Viggo was so playful on the set. He said Viggo would up and tackle him sometimes, just for the hell of it! And even with the foul language beeped out, I thought the thing with Elijah, Dom and Billy talking behind each other's backs was hilarious!

It's a good poem, it expresses an emotion very clearly, which is what poetry is supposed to do, IMHO.
I wish I was as talented!

but what do you think my kids are going to be like? They have a mother that buys 11 pairs of sneaker at one time! LOLThey'll be SMART shoppers! I just had to laugh about that homeschool group question idea! Sometimes folks are just wound TOO tight. They are very concerned that their kids get a better education than anyone else. Sounds like they're forgetting the idea of creating the desire to learn in their kids. You don't do that by loading them down with all kids of stuff and not giving them time to do things they enjoy that can be educational as well! Our kids have lots of stuff to do, but Joseph still has time to play with his Lego Robotics stuff and Clare has time to watch her Anime, read her Manga (in Japanese, no less) and draw!

But I am a afraid of adventures!Life is an adventure. You never know where that road might take you... just like Bilbo said.

You should have seen them teetering through the store, carrying piles of these shoe boxes, helping me! Like Gollum carefully carrying Sam's pots of water! LOL It was very funny.
Did I mention that because I opened up a Kohl's account, I got 10% off my total cost?

Did I mention that because I opened up a Kohl's account, I got 10% off my total cost? You GO, girl!! I think a Kohl's has opened somewhere near here. I heard someone talking about it one day. I'll have to check it out!
I was able to get some REALLY good buys at Coldwatercreek.com the other day. I missed out on some because their site was down when I tried to 'view my cart'; but it was probably the Lord protecting me from spending too much money! LOL! All of the items in their 'Outlet Store' were 70% off the original price! Most of the remaining items were Small to Med. sizes, which I DON'T wear, and many never be able to! There were a few items in Large, though, which I plan to be able to wear in the summer!! I bought a gorgeous deep purple, microfiber tunic that buttons down the front for only $24 (Orig. $100) and some lovely linen pants for only $14 (orig. $56)! I got a couple of pairs of nice linen pants for Clare, though, because she CAN wear the Small and Med. sizes!

I'mup, I'mup....
Lite dusting of snow this a.m. Jr. is disappointed he has to go to school (he would be if the sun was out and it was 70 degrees too...)
I've gotta run, but I'll be back later to catch up on last nite's posts...

Good morning! Yawn! I'm sleepy...my brother called me up bright and early this morning because his car wouldn't start (it's COLD) and he needed a ride to work. He had to be AT work by before six thirty. Ugh!
But at least MY car never seems to have problems with the cold! I guess I can be thankful for that...

Life is an adventure. You never know where that road might take you... just like Bilbo said. Morning everyone! Am busily trying to catch up with all the chatter. Speaking of adventures, my supervisor came in yesterday and announced to us newbies that we need training and should take a course. So we are! As of next friday, I'll be a student again- it's a strange feeling. We are going to review key parts of our math sequence and push on with it to prepare for grad school. I'm hoping school can still be fun.

You mentioned problems with the CDRW drives in your classroom... it could be the speed for which the blank disks you're using are certified. We have relatively new computer systems with high-speed CDRW drives, and we found that if we tried using our old blank disks with the new drives, they wouldn't workThanks Bear, I'll check into that. With being new to teaching, learning to do lesson plans, learning to actually stand in front of a room and teach etc. I usually put stuff like the system problems on the back burner. But, it's very frustrating and something that I've got to address more as I get into this classroom teaching bit.

(Don't you just LOVE a bargain?) I LOVE Coldwater Creek! Although back in the early 90's their line ran toward more of a Western/Southwestern influence which I really, really liked. Now, it's more Northwoods but it's still pretty stuff. Always feel like a million in their clothes.

Good morning everyone. I'm feeling a good bit better today. Rested. Now, I have to catch up on the thread! Hope all of ya'll are well and warm. It's supposed to get even colder here tonight! YUK.

Hey, if you get the Sci-Fi channel, it's on every night for the next howeverlongWe don't get the sci-fi channel. No cable. And even when we are home, we don't watch TV very much. You know, geeky book readers here. And computer nerds. Boring household...... YEAH RIGHT!
To: Lil'freeper; SuziQ
I LOVE Coldwater Creek! I like their stuff a lot, too. Very feminine and pretty, but comfortable, too. I agree, though, I liked the styles they had a few years back a little better - the more Western things, vests and such.
I do more looking than buying, but I used to love looking through their catalogs! I should get back on their mailing list!

Good Morning, Wneighbor!
Hope you're feeling better today.

They have a mother that buys 11 pairs of sneaker at one time! LOLMy kids have a mom like that. Now, I have this lovely daughter in Germany. 27 years old. Mother of 3 (one of them is her husbands from an earlier marriage but you'd never know it) great shopper, her husband thinks she's smart as she can be with budget. Son-in-law is a platoon sergent, my daughter mom's all the guys she thinks need it... even though some of them are close to her own age.
So, I think stuff like this instills wisdom, generosity and thriftyness into our kids. Some of those true Americanisms that we need. It's good for your kids.
The expert has spoken ---- you may laugh now if you desire.
To: Overtaxed
I'm feeling lots better OT. The worst thing about today is.... my phone is out at home and I'm on dial-up. So, I may be only freeping at work until I get the phone back on.
