Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

"Thoroughbreds make excellent riding horses!"
Well, that is good to know, they are such pretty animals.
I forgot to tell you how the potato gun caused a "ghost" event.
I was, demonstrating it, to my twin brother, about 10pm, a couple days after Xmas, on the front porch of the very old frame house in rural VA that we all grew up in.
Anyway, on the first shot, I knocked 2 floodlights off a tree about 30-40 yards away, and up about 40 ft., firing from the hip.
So we went out and looked up at the sockets, sparks were arcing around in them and wouldn't stop - so I went down in the basement looking for the circuit breaker..
Unbeknownsed to me, my wife and my sister in law were sitting, watching tv in the library. So, I went ahead and turned off and on every breaker I could find, one at a time, looking for the one.
Instead of thinking someone might be in the basement flipping breakers, maybe because the house has been there for 200 years, when every room in the place turned its lights off and on, on that cold dark night, the ladies thought ghosts.
Anyway, when I flipped the breaker for the room in which they were sitting, my wife for some reason decided to say loudly "If that is you (and named my parents, dead about 10 years now), do that again.
And for some reason, though I couldn't hear them upstairs, I flipped that particular breaker again. The resulting screams, however, were very audible all the way to the basement. My sister in law got so upset that she broke out in a sweat, took off her sweater, even though it was cold.
Don't think the potato guns will be forgotten soon up there.
It turned out that the potato, after shattering the floodlights, had buried itself in the sockets, so electricity was being conducted through the potato and sparking around. Didn't know before that that potatoes could conduct electricity, but they seem to have that ability.

Three is the best place to start probably!
To: RMDupree
Gonna watch the disc, say hi to Rosie, I might come to the room.
Some folks, including my other sister in law think they have seen ghosts in the house ( I think she saw Mom ), but I never did, not all those years. Noises, though.
To: Sam Cree
Will do!
Hope to see you there!

OK, I'll start with 3.
Forgot my tag line earlier and had a remark on it about lembas on a purely political thread :-)

I can't get back into chat for some weird reason. It takes me to the the stage where I'm being logged in the system and freezes up. :(
I wasn't being rude, I promise!
Since I can't get back in, I wanted to let you know why I "vanished". See you all tomorrow!

I went to the movie tonight with a friend and I made a point to look for some things that I posted earlier.
"I'll have to look for this one next time lol:You can catch it at the beginning when Legolas and company are hunting Merry and Pippin. One of the shots from afar shows Legolas slip on a rock. Not very Elf-like. -Gracey Anthony"
TRUE..I believe it was right after Gimli says "Very dangerous over short distances." The camera then shows them from far off and poor Legolas almost falls lol.
"Another thing I'll have to watch out for: "If you listen carefully when Frodo, Sam, and Gollum are going through the Dead Marsh, you can hear the commands of Elrond during the Battle of Mount Doom. -Michael Nguyen"
NOT SURE...I know I heard screaming then a shouting. I couldn't be sure if the shouting was Elrond's battle commands from FOTR or not. It was hard to tell on the CRAPPY SOUND SYSTEM that theater had!
""When Theoden, Aragorn, Legolas, and Theoden's men make their last ride out to meet the orcs (Helm's Deep/Forth Eorlingas), look to Legolas' right when you see the shot from behind (as the horses are knocking away the Uruk-hai) and you will notice Eowyn there. -Melanie May"
FALSE...I did not see Eowyn at all. Unless I totally missed her, she was not there. Maybe she saw one of the men that had long blond hair and just assumed it was her.

Hi there, sorry you're not feeling well... if you think it's a cold, I can heartily recommend Cold-Eeze lozenges. They help get rid of the virus quicker than the average cold lasts.
You mentioned problems with the CDRW drives in your classroom... it could be the speed for which the blank disks you're using are certified. We have relatively new computer systems with high-speed CDRW drives, and we found that if we tried using our old blank disks with the new drives, they wouldn't work. We had to buy some new blanks that were certified to work with high-speed drives. The errors were very odd, and at first made us think that the drives were bad.
Hope you feel better soon!

My friend gave me the "Minority Report" DVD todayIt's a pretty good movie! Try something new once in a while!
To: RMDupree
Is there a way to install PowerDVD without the key?Don't think so Ruthy... but if you know the manufacturer of your drive, you may be able to download drivers from their website. Also, Rose says you can get WinDVD from http://www.intervideo.com/
Good luck!

Well, here they are. The three pairs set off to the right are the ones I don't need. I think I'll give one pair to my neice. Ebay the others.

Jen, I agree with the priggishness...but what do you think my kids are going to be like? They have a mother that buys 11 pairs of sneaker at one time! LOL
Wneighbor, sorry to hear you are feeling ill! Get well soon!
