The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Mmm, proud to be part of that insanity!

We just started getting the SciFi channel again, and I'm worried there will be cool shows I'll want to watch cutting into my internet time...

"there will be cool shows "

Yeah, there probably will be...come to think of it, I may watch the "features" on the SE tonight, since I haven't seen them yet.

See everyone later.

We watched "Roswell" which is a show I haven't seen before and it was... stupid but not too bad.

OK, I am back

"Roswell" is the one show that I have watched the last couple years. Jeanne and I watched it together, and had fun, I enjoyed the alien aspect of it, while she liked the romances that were always going on, which drove me a little crazy.

However, I enjoyed the fact that you can say that "Roswell" was about "Teenage Space Aliens in Love" which is so silly as to almost demand attention.

Not sure who my favorite character was, maybe Liz.

Yes, I was getting "Teen Angst Show with Aliens" vibes off of it. We've seen all of two episodes so... but I think they were the first two.

I love the features! - especially disk 4.... I may watch them when I come back from putting horses to bed. It sounds better to me tonight than Minority Report.

Still working!

This elf didn't go drinking last night...

I don't drink... I just offered to help those that did. Must have been something in the water. Maybe it was some of OT's bad water.

The (politically very conservative) Wall Street Journal, to which I subscribe, gave "Roswell" a good rewiew, if you can believe that.

I had a good time watching it, mostly. Sometimes the romance aspect of it was too much for me, but I thought the show was well done.

I liked the sherriff guy also...and all the main characters were pretty sympathetic, I thought.

Have some soup! I hope you will be better before morning!

I made up some homemade beef/tomato/noodle soup for lunch. That helped a whole lot. But, I didn't feel up to making cornbread to go with it. Now you know I don't feel good. Soup just isn't the same without cornbread.

Minority Report is an excellent movie, even if Tom Cruise is in it. Honestly it was the best non-LotR movie I saw last year.

So, do you think I should start with disc 4? I will plan for that.

I like horse racing quite a bit, though am not so sure that thoroughbreds always make good riding horses, they can be kind of high strung. The animals are super athletes, though.

Steve was very pleased

I'm so glad. He's just showing how smart he is too... to see your bargain... not to mention the buy American..... It's just plain smart all around. And that chunk of change will come in when you need it.

Wow. Roswell used to be Myranda's favorite show. She really misses it. But, she did get kind of disgusted the last year or so when it started getting less sci-fi and more soap. Still, she was a huge fan.

She would be envious to know you can get it... especially if it's the older ones.

Thoroughbreds make excellent riding horses!

Remember that the horses you see off the track are very young, and broke to only one thing, running. They are fed high energy food and supplements, worked every day to keep them at the peak of performance, and kept stalled when not working... when they come out, they are ready to go.

A thoroughbred let out to pasture, on lower octane regular horse food, and handled calmly, is a fine riding horse for anything from precise dressage to quiet trails!

I just popped in 4

I like disk three too.... you need to watch them both, Disk three is interesting for the creation of the sets and locations, and the early process for putting a project together. Disk four is the cast, and the finishing touches. I like that. I just love those boys!

You got an awesome deal, 2J!

I can't find Converse around here, not for me or my kids. :(

I'm in chat with Rosie. Anybody care to come over?
