Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I bet SuziQ did.Nope, I didn't. My high school didn't have a prom because 1971 was the first year of forced segregation at our high school, and some folks didn't want all the students together in a social situation. Idiots. Anyway, some of the parents decided to throw a party for the graduates at the all white country club so the black students couldn't come. Idiots.
I wouldn't have gone cause I didn't like those people to begin with, but as it turns out I couldn't go anyway, cause my brother was getting married that weekend in Pensacola, so I marched off the field, turned in my gown, got in the car and headed to FL.
SSQ didn't go to his prom because his high school decided not to have one for the same reason. The parents of the white students did the same thing as they did in my town, but he found out later that one of the black students in his graduating class was the bartender at the graduation party at that all white country club.! So he got to be there despite the idiots. ;o)
I don't think not going to the prom makes us losers. I think it means we're interesting and unusual people. ;o)
