Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

We would've won the series with him in 2001. I prefer not to think about such things.

time for ramius to go...
See you all later!
To: g'nad
besides... this was in high school...Sounds like a group of boys from my high school! One of them had an uncle with a little ramshackle house out in the country. That's where they were most weekends; drinkin and pukin! My cousin Barbara dated one of the guys, but since she was with him, he didn't get the chance to go out there as much. He only made it one of the weekend nights, not both. LOL!

Thanks for the nightlight, Bear!
Good night, Hair!

Good morning bump.

Good morning! Back at work. I'm stressed and grouchy 'cuz all those other people on the road 1) have no manners and 2) don't know how to drive. Uuuurgh! *Deep breaths, be calm, go to that happy place in your mind*

You did mention Equilibrium, but I haven't seen it yet. Bale was breathtaking in American Psycho, but the movie isn't for the faint of heart. It is extremely gory, extremely sick, and extremely twisted- and so is his character. It's so dark and wrong that it's almost comedy. Almost.

Good morning! - Just passin' through on my way out the door. It's a lovely sunny day here and I get to spend it in a cube.

Good morning!!
Lil' Freeper, the worst is getting behind a "Greatest Generationer", who like seems to forget they are even driving every few minutes...
Got my $800 check from the President yesterday! Sat down and paid the bills. It's all gone. :-( Well, our new fridge is paid for now!

Yaaay! I'm glad you got your checks. Heard similar tales from the office roomies. The checks were barely out of the envelope before they were spent.
"Greatest Generationer"
The real deal? Or us gen-xers who think we're the greatest generation to have ever graced the earth? LOL I swear people my age have never learned the niceties of "merge" or "alternate right of way" aka take turns. Back to kindergarten for the lot of them! I tend to call the true Greatest Generationers "lane nannies", 'cuz they thing going 5 mph under the limit is virtuous and we should all learn from their example. *aaaaargh*
To: Lil'freeper
Oh Lord, Steve is a lane nanny...just drives me crazy.
If someone tailgates him, he drives real slow. If I'm with him, I commence to yelling at him! I swear, I worry about someone shooting him someday. I tell him "Don't look out the rearview mirror, don't look out the side mirrows unless you need to move into another lane...just look straight ahead, go the speed limit and DRIVE! Ignore the guy behind you!"
Argh!

In the commentary on the Equilibrium DVD the director mentioned choosing Bale for the part of the Tetra Gramaton cleric based on his chilling performance in American Psycho. I'll have to see it sometime.
To: Lil'freeper
BTW, do y'all have the Netflix service for DVD rentals?

Hullo, good mornin'.
Sorry I wasn't here last night (not that the **cough** backgammoners would have noticed). Storm knocked the cable out around 7:30. It wasn't on as of midnite, but was this a.m. Didn't wait up.
Gotta run. Gots a meeting with the assistant troll at 9:00 a.m. Be back to catch up later.

I've thought about getting it for my parents who live in the boonies of AZ and don't have a rental store nearby. Hubby and I just tend to buy DVDs rather than rent, mostly out of laziness. Sometimes we do the digital cable pay-per-view thing.

Got my $800 check from the President yesterday! Was it really a full $800 per child? I was wondering if it would be pro-rated. It's nice to know it's not (kicking himself for not having half a dozen kids).

Mine wasn't...but it might be if you reported more income or something...I don't know how it works. I got the full $400 each.
Thank you LORD and President Bush!
