Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Well, yes... but Rose mentioned wanting to see that movie the first time we saw the preview, I think the first time we saw TTT. So, I'm pretty much resigned to seeing it. ;)You don't have to be resigned to it. We can have a girls night out!!! oh oh... then you'd be left out!

Where are the dwarves?Well, no one is really sure. Vim has been gone for a while, Corin posted what might have been an opus, but has since said he would return, and g'nad has been standing alone for the last few days.
Hasn't been quite the same without them.

I grew up an Episcopalian, but I don't remember anyone ever calling the ministers "father." And I think I am right that only Catholic priests take confessions, Our Catholic Parish has a 'covenant relationship' with the town's Episcopal Church. Those folks call their Pastor "Father Paul" which can get confusing when we have our Annual Shrove Tuesday Dinner together. Our Pastor is Father Paul also!

the more I see the film the more bizarre Theoden's behavior seems.I agree, he has some mood swings. The way I was seeing it, Theoden was trying to protect his people by hiding in Helm's Deep (this is different from the book). Then, when that didn't work, he more or less gave up, and was just looking for a way to die gloriously.
Oh, you'll have to tell Myranda I didn't think she was that short.
To: Wneighbor
Poor thing. She has no idea how hard it is to find pants and shirts that are long enough. Shoes that fit. And the biggest one, a man.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Corin opused? No way! He'd better be back, or else. Was it the religion forum?
It's supposed to be the Elves that leave, not the Dwarves...

Oh, you'll have to tell Myranda I didn't think she was that short. I told her. She laughed out loud. Then she sent a hearty TELL HIM I SAID THANK YOU!!!!. Then she reminded me she had on 3 inch heels. tee hehehehe
Then, when that didn't work, he more or less gave up, and was just looking for a way to die gloriously.
Yes, I agree. Interestingly, I was first most disappointed in the Faramir changes. Now that we've delved into all that, I'm wishing Theoden didn't go through that moment of despair/depression. However, I think once again it is a primary part of showing the despairing situation. It is going to be interesting to me to work this Theoden characterization up to being the valiant warrior on Pelannor Fields. Although, the "forth Eorlingas" charge is definitely the valiant warrior.

But on top of everything else... she's so deprived. Granted she is a little height challenged... but she wears a size 3 and has a nicely shaped body. Like she really has anything to complain about!!! HA

Hi, JenB, glad you are back.
To: Sam Cree
She has no idea how hard it is to find pants and shirts that are long enough. Shoes that fit. And the biggest one, a man. Have a dig pic. Will do something about it tomorrow.
To: Wneighbor
a spouse, yeah, that requires some care, and luck.
To: Wneighbor
Yeap, poor thing. Even though I was the supermodel build growing up, all of the guys who thought (and still think) I am such a wonderful woman and friend will line up to date women like her.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear; Sam Cree
I had guessed that he was Episcopalian too. I believe it's quite common to call Episcopalian ministers priests and "Father." I have a friend who is Episcopalian and she refers to the priest and Father of her church.
But you are right, it's never explicitly stated in the movie itself.
To: Scott from the Left Coast
Awwwww, what a cutie! She looks like a handful!
To: 2Jedismom; HairOfTheDog
Hair seems to be postally challenged...
Hair, maybe you need to have a chat with your mail carrier...perhaps he/she is enjoying her stuff before she gets it!
