The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

And I have jury duty in September. I'd be scared to have me on a jury.I received a Summons for jury duty yesterday for the very first time in my life! I'm gonna be on a Grand Jury, which is nice because after I serve, I can't be called to be on ANY other jury for at least 3 yrs.!
I e-mailed my sister for info cause she used to work for a DA in S. MS, and she used to be a cop, so she knows the Grand Jury from the side of a witness and the side of the Prosecuter! She gave me some good tips.

I think we'll break out the backgammon board and then read for a bit. heh heh heh...

Already have a spoon, but keep forgetting the fork and knife. You need a spork.

Sounds like a good plan.

Just tell 'em that you think everyone should carry guns. Shoot, tell 'em you're homeschooled and you believe in capital punishment.
You could tell 'em your an elf, but they'd probably start a file on you...

Hehehe....I had a co-worker who got called for jury duty in Johnston county. He thouth it was funny that the slick Raleigh lawyer had a hard time seating an anti-gun jury. He'd get these gray-haired grannies:
"Yeah, I've got a couple of shotguns,(this many)pistols, (etc.) I used to go hunting with my husband."
To: Wneighbor
Hmmmm....what does Corin have on DVD?
FOTR, Theatrical and SE (doesn't everybody?)
O Brother, Where Art Thou
My Big Fat Greek Wedding
Spiderman
Gladiator (current offering from Netflix)
The Big Chill (current offering from Blockbuster)
Shakespeare in Love
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
And somewhere around here we have Monsters, Inc. But I can only find the wrapper, not the DVD. (it's in Jr's room even tho he swears it isn't)
We also have Star Wars I & II (aaack, cough, sputter...)

Oh yeah....I forgot about Holy Grail. That brings the total to 8.
To: Corin Stormhands
I can't believe you said that...I think it's cute.
Besides, I snore louder than she does.
To: Corin Stormhands
Yeah, the worst thing about it is that it's three weeks after school starts, and I can't afford to miss my classes. I'm torn between showing up with a book on capital punishment, or acting like a typically brainless twentysomething.
Or maybe I'll go with the Elf idea... hmmm.

Yeah, the worst thing about it is that it's three weeks after school starts, and I can't afford to miss my classes. You know, I'm a believer in doing your civic duty, but most courts will excuse you with a valid reason. I would think school should apply. It wouldn't hurt to give them a call.

Yeah, I'm gonna try. Not that I wouldn't like to be on a jury. Sometime. Just not while I'm trying to work and go to school and stuff.

I'm gonna be on a Grand JuryI am a little envious of both of you! - I have been called for jury duty twice and never maded even into consideration for a jury.... I would go every day, and every day they would get the jury seated before ever calling my name, so I'd go home.... I would love to have done it.
SQ, your Grand Jury experience should be really neat, if you can afford the time.
