Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Hullo! I absolutely loved the books and movies. Well you are in the right spot. ;^)
I am still bitter about Faramir's movie personna because he was a great character in the books. :-(
I don't think anyone here was really HAPPY with how Faramir turned out in the theatrical release. But some of us understood the need for the change, you know film being different from books and all. Also we are encouraged that PJ has said that some of the extra time on the Extended Version will be devoted to expanding his character.
Now where is that pipeweed?
Try Corin, he has a teenager.....

Digital camera and travel budget come first! I am glad you had your wits about you! - But I do wish you could participate somehow!
I am back with The Big Chill, some 'good for me' cereal, a couple bunches of bananas and a lifetime supply of toilet paper they sold me in a 2-fer-one deal. Oh - and printer toner.

Hullo! - Welcome to the Hobbit Hole!
I am OK with Faramir.... it's the editing that makes me nuts....

Going once does not 'frequenting' make! You can say ~that~ again!

Corin: Ouch. Best of luck to you! :-) And I agree about the need for changes and everyone has their favorite scenes. And now I really want the Extended Version of all 3 movies. ;-) PJ did a great job with the movies overall.

Hi, CA! Welcome to the Hobbit Hole!
But some of us understood the need for the change, you know film being different from books and all.
I'm one of the ones that didn't understand the change! I feel it was a completely unnecessary savaging of Faramir's character!
But I don't go on about it, usually. ;)
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
I have never heard you 'go on' about it at all! Good afternoon bear!
To: HairOfTheDog
Well, there was one time...
But I can't stay... have to go pick up Rose from work, she's not working late tonight. Hooray!
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Hey Bear, what's up?
Is it Friday yet?

I am still bitter about Faramir's movie personna because he was a great character in the books. :-( Well HERE you have an ally in that opinion!!! Faramir was completely misrepresented! (And yet - still a looker!)

Hey, gang...this is gonna sound kinda weird, but could I get some good thoughts and prayers at about 7:30PM Eastern? Have an internet frient calling...we've never talked in person before, and I'm nervous. I'm shy in person...probably doesn't come across here. Even though it's nothing serious, I'm allowed to pray that I don't sound like an idiot, right?

Well HERE you have an ally in that opinion!!! Faramir was completely misrepresented! (And yet - still a looker!) If they don't fix him in ROTK, at least in part, I'm gonna be highly ticked. I could almost live with the other odd changes as something required to flesh out the story (even Aragorn's goin' down river, odd as that was), but messing with Faramir? That was wrong.
But he WAS easy on the eyes...
To: RosieCotton
You got it babycakes! Guaranteed prayer from Texas! At 6:30 CST so it's 7:30 EST.

They totally messed up Elrond in BOTH movies. That was not Tolkien's Elrond.
but gees, Faramir could have stood around and just let me look at him for a lot longer too.

Oh Rosie how sweet!
Yes! Lord, I pray that Rose does not sound like an idiot at 7:30 and thereafter! She wants to sound nice for this new friend she has met!
Now, who's the friend? ;~D

Is it a GUY???
I've talked to a couple of the Hole dwellers on the phone before...Hair and Wneighbor. Funny with Hair...I shocked her, I think! I just called her out of the blue..."HEY!! How are you??" I expected her to say "Who is this?" but she just went on like she knew who I was...because she thought I was someone else! So I hurried to tell her who I was. It was funny, because I was in a big rush, wanted to tell her something...Steve was coming home any minute and I didn't have time to log back on to tell her!
I don't even remember what I called her about now...

So true! He and Denethor had an important role in ROTK which will hopefully remain as part of the movie. Where did Faramir almost get corrupted by the ring in TTT (the book)? If I am correct, he would not go near the ring.
