Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Heh, thought you might like those... ;)
To: Penny1
There is so much to love that I find myself torn.
To: Penny1; 2Jedismom
For your consideration!
To: HairOfTheDog
I don't feel torn at all...I just love them all! All at the same time! Why not? That's the beauty of fiction... ;)

Yeah, I read that too....
I found the mere subject laughable. Why are journalists having such a hard time coping with the fact that women love heroes?
Sounds like she's just jealous of those of us girls that actually had brains enough to read when we were younger....
I have to admit, though, I agreed with her assessment of so-called "chick flicks."
To: Penny1
Well, yeah.... and she was right that the women aren't going to see the film because Arwen was in it!
But her little assertion that we didn't read the books is bad press, and I am compelled to want to slap her once for each of her last three snotty paragraphs!

I think I will have your requests ready soon....if all goes well...
To: Penny1; All
As always, I hope all goes well!
I am waiting up for a friend who will be coming over late, from a dog show in Puyallup. She may not get here till 10:00. She is going to crash here, and I am going with her to the show tomorrow, so I won't be around much except maybe early during coffee! - If I don't see you again, have a good rest of your weekend!

Enjoy your weekend, and have fun at the show tomorrow!!!

I should have a good time!
It is a long time (since Logan was a lad) since I have been in that environment. I bet it hasn't changed! I will be in a new circle, though... She has a collie she just bought and is perhaps interested in showing when she finds out more about it. - So I will be surrounded by Lassies. Hers is a sweet dog. An unbelievably mellow male.

Found this while reading the Battle of Helm's Deep to Rose...
'It is a great host and follows us hard,' said Aragorn.
'They bring fire,' said Théoden, 'and they are burning as they come, rick, cot, and tree. This was a rich vale and had many homesteads. Alas for my folk!'
'Would that day was here and we might ride down upon them like a storm out of the mountains!' said Aragorn. 'It grieves me to fly before them.'

You can see that he really is listening and thinking hard about everything he's seeing and hearing from Sam, Frodo and Gollum. Yes, indeed. And testing, as well... Rose pointed out after last night's viewing, that when Faramir brings Frodo to see Gollum at the pool, he has arranged this as a test of Frodo: he knows Frodo probably lied about having another companion. Will Frodo let him kill Gollum, or will he try to save him? And what would it mean in either case? To me, Faramir looks quite surprised when Frodo asks him to spare Gollum.
Faramir was listening to Sam's "Why We Fight" speech as well, I think that's what finally convinced him to help Frodo. Gollum/Smeagol was listening too... his look of regret when Sam says "there is still good in this world, and it is worth fighting for" is quite heartbreaking.
