Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

That's one thing that bugs me about here. The people aren't normally what I'm used to as neighborly.
Last night after I got home from Ft. Worth I went for a walk. I used to walk all the time at the old place because it was in the country and there was always stuff to see. But, I don't like it in town..... house after house after house.... Anyway, last night I did go walking. Because I needed to get out. So I walked for 2 or 3 miles around the area I live. I passed another lady walking. Said "Hello." She kept walking without speaking. Several houses had people sitting on their porches. I said "Hello" or waved if they were far from the street. And no one spoke or waved back. About 5 blocks from home some guy made a left turn in front of me and waved and that was it. I'm just not used to that unfriendliness.

Production notes say it was filmed at the ruins of Hampi, the capital city of the 13th century Vijaynagar Empire. And all the reviews categorize it as a period pieceExcellent. She'll start off with the Anicents, and she'll be moving into the Medieval era next year. It should fit right in!

Wow, not bad at all. Add in airfare and we could probably do it for less than $4000 each (in their off-peak season). Hmmm. Time to start saving.

I just did a preliminary check on round-trip airfares from Seattle to Nairobi, and it's about $2000 per passenger.
