Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Good evening!
Just got this bit of news over at TORN:
COMIC-CON: Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King Preview!!

A host of hobbits, goblins and warriors dropped in on the San Diego Comic Convention today to premiere three minutes of a 12-minute preview of the third and final Lord of the Rings movie "The Return of the King". The full 12-minute sneak peek will be featured on the August 26 release of "The Two Towers" DVD. Prior to the preview, Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Andy Serkis, Dominic Monaghan and others fielded questions from the crowd, then introduced a special taped message from Ian McKellen, Peter Jackson and Billy Boyd who are still in New Zealand filming pick-ups for the new film due in December. The trio expressed their regrets for not being at the Con, then introduced the new footage.
The footage begins where Two Towers ends. Gandalf telling the heroes that the battle for Helm's Deep was over, but the battle for Middle-Earth has just begun. Flash to Peter Jackson in the editing room discussing the battle that will take place on Pellenor Fields. Cut to several battle shots involving men on horses and orcs. Jackson then refers to Helm's Deep as an 'opening skirmish' when compared to the battles on Pellenor. The last shot is one of Pippen and Gandalf. Pippen asks, "Is there much hope for Frodo and Sam?" Gandalf answers: "There was never much hope. Just a fool's hope."
Elijah told the crowd that Frodo goes through a quite a change during the course of ROTK. He described it as a complete deterioration of himself to the point where he really is no longer Frodo. Elijah added that the third film is 'better than Fellowship and Two Towers combined.'
We'll all get our chance to judge this December

is it still slow now?Yep. I'm gonna give up on it tonight and hit the sack. I fell asleep in the recliner in the den after supper, waking up about an hour ago, and my eyes feel like sandpaper!
See y'all tomorrow! We're planning to go out an Outdoors shop and try out some kayaks! SSQ took a mini-course in kayaking a couple of weeks ago, and fell in love with it. He likes the serenity of just paddling along on a quiet body of water.

SSQ took a mini-course in kayaking a couple of weeks ago, and fell in love with it. A very easy thing to do, that! I love my kayak. And I miss the streams in which to use it.

Well, it finally made it below 90 degrees here after I broke down and turned on the window unit in the den.

But man! - I feel cheated that we haven't got a teaser trailer yet! I am worried that it isn't done! What if it isn't done in time? LOL!

I am feeling a bit like a blonde.... I had the fan going this afternoon, and I was thinking, man, it just isn't cooling off in here! The window wasn't open behind it.

Yeah, I guess that's not a good thing to even joke about.
To: HairOfTheDog
Now THAT should have been my trick!!! But, I've had my windows and fans all proper all day..... until now.... when I broke down and decided to sleep cool. I forgot I'm going to be gone all day tomorrow. If I'd remembered that I sure would have waited to turn it on till I got home then. But, now, it's on. And I'm sitting right in front of it. And I don't think it's going off tonight.

Well, I'm off to veg out on my bed and watch Trading Spaces. Heh...did you see the red room that Hildy did? We were commenting that we couldn't imagine anyone liking it. Then we saw the "couple" she did it for and said "Oh, well then...."
To: 2Jedismom
Didn't you shut down the pool for the rest of the season because of it? No, last year we actually had two break-ins and a paint ball episode.
We shut down a week early because our chlorine pump failed (when our chemical guy was on vacation) and the water very quickly turned green. Before he got back to fix it our Governor issued a "don't even thing of using water" proclamation because of the drought. So we closed a week early.
