The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I got the [nervous] hives at my own wedding. Didn't do anything for wedding photos. Neither did the pancake makeup I wore to cover them. Looked like something out of Buffy the Vampire Slayer...a slayed something, that is.

I just took a bath in cold water. Except the cold water is more like tepid. Still it felt good.

It's down to 102 now.

I blame it on the outrageous bachelor party the night before.

Air Conditioner

Words and Music by Christine Lavin
Copyright 1987 Blendingwell Music (ASCAP)

Oooh this hot summer's got me down
You can fry an egg on the street
Heat waves are wiggling on the sidewalk
Cops are dropping like flies on the beat
I need a new lover to take me in
Protect me from this humid air
Be him from Brooklyn, Staten Island, or Queens
I don't care

It don't matter what kinda lovin' you're into
Or how big your apartment might be
All you need's an Air Conditioner
And you're the man for me.

You can pour me a glass of Perrier
You can fan my fevered brow
You can rub me down with alcohol
That ain't enough know how
You can lay me in a tub of ice
You can stand me in a cold shower too
But if you don't have an Air Conditioner
I will not go home with you

It don't matter what kinda lovin' you're into
Or how big your ego might be
All you need's an Air Conditioner
And you are the man
You are the man
You are the man
You are the man
You are the man
You are the man
You are the man for me.

(scat)

What's that you say you live by the Hudson River
And a breeze blows through your door
Well honey if you don't have a Freidrich's in your window
I don't wanna hear any more
What's that you say you live in a penthouse
Got a terrace with a view of the night
Well that's swell but I really must tell you
An Air Conditioner's a much prettier sight

It don't matter what kinda lovin' you're into
Or how big your wallet might be
All you need's an Air Conditioner
And you're the man oh
You're the man
I don't care what kinda lovin' you're into
Or how big your _________ might be
All you need's an Air Conditioner
And you're the man oh
You're the man oh
You're the man for me.

Well, do ya think it's too much to ask for us girls to expect a guy to have the uh, cojones to ask us out? I mean, it's been suggested to OT and I that we're a couple of old spinsters 'cause we won't do the askin'.

We think if we have to ask then the guy doesn't have enough.... you know.

Well, we are back safe, sound, and a little tired from the AXE and bow Moot...

a great time was had by all... I met the master bowman at the motel where we were staying, where we spent some time pool side getting acquainted face to face...

we then went to dinner at a local feed trough, the Chuck Wagon Cafe, where the chow was simple, hearty, and reasonably priced...

we then went back to the MOJAM where we looked around some of the booths where craftmen were plying their trade... mrsnad and I were offered an opportunity to try out an Atlatl... a unique and potent weapon... but not nearly as elegant as the bow... (if I may quote from Gates of Fire... but nothin' beats an axe fer gettin' yer point across...

This morning we met back at MOJAM, where Master Osage presented me with a gift the rivaled Celeborn's gift to Aragorn... my weapon of choice, a hand axe...

Master Osage, (on the left in the photo), is a true gentleman, with a calm, reserved dignity worthy of the title, "Sir"...

Here is the master bowman on the range... his shooting form is impeccable... eat your heart out Legolas...

We really enjoyed the setting for the AXE and bow Moot... the folks at the MOJAM were sincere, friendly folk anxious to share their joy in making everything from bows, flints, arrows, jewelry with their neighbors and anyone who is interested...

Osage, you are a a class act... I salute you... LSAggie, take good care of him... we look forward to meetin' you soon...

Notice that Hair's success rate isn't any better than ours. :)
