Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

What if you looked as good in it as Scott Baio up there?
To: ecurbh
Yah... it was a big relief to find out that "dress code" didn't mean we had to take it literally.
To: Ramius
Yeah... I'm there now. But it's just me, a guy from my office and some other dude. And Steph, the bartender. Pretty quiet in here tonight. Wow, I can't nag if there are no wenches there. Are you sure you're in the right place? I think that contest last week scared 'em off. Or maybe the wenches went someplace else because there weren't any pirates sweeping them off their feet.

The wench quotient varies. It's like the tide coming in... then going out... another half hour and it'll be all different, I'm sure.
Time and tide waits for no man. :-)

Yah... it was a big relief to find out that "dress code" didn't mean we had to take it literally. Sometimes it's real fun finding the 'loopholes' in the dress code.
of course now i'm working in a place where i've been told my haircolor is "unprofessional." And! I was born with this color!!! it ain't purple or nothin!

Dress code? Ugh... I've been wearing slacks while at the client site but they all wear jeans so I wore them today too. Plus my slacks are in the wash. I hate dressing up.

The lawn tractor was a John Deere 212, made in the mid 70's, which I bought at an auction in April... looked solid... little did I know... went to a guy I trust, said it'd be $800 to rebuild the engine, and $300 fer the tranny (that started to slip two weeks ago)... he said "buy a new one"...
the tractor with the flat is an Alice Chalmers D-14, circa 1962... runs strong... this ground is hard on tires... it didn't help that I was pushin' Junior's garbage heap down into a holler... shoulda known better...
I'm so tickled with the grips I almost started a vanity post... thanks bro... you understate your generosity...

Hair color is "unprofessional"... wtf???
To: Wneighbor
Uh... nope. no stripe changing. whatever that means... :-)
To: JenB
I hate dressing up. I do too.... when somebody tells me too. I like dressing up sometimes, but it should be my choice. I'd rather wear jeans and T-shirts or other plain cotton shirts. I'm boring.

Hair color is "unprofessional"... wtf??? yeah... wtf?
To: JenB; Wneighbor
One nice thing about working weekend nights is that I can basically wear whatever I want. During weekdays, they want us to be more presentable in case they have a client coming in or something.

Hair color is "unprofessional"... wtf??? Beats me. I usually get in trouble for these "dress code" violations because I tend to push the limit and find the loopholes. But, I took the job with hair that was dyed red for 25 years. I changed it to blonde on a whim because 25 years sounded like a long time to dye it the same color. Intended to go back to red after about 2 or 3 months. But, then, the dean made a stink about it. It's been blonde for 16 months now.

Uh... nope. no stripe changing. whatever that means... :-) Means: when the wenches come in tonight are you gonna get off your duff and do some pirate ravishing? or just discuss it?

Oh, I'll probably sit on my duff. Maybe, maybe not.
Depends on the wench.

OUCH! Trouble on two different tractors. I hope you didn't have much invested in the lawn tractor. The flat sounds fixable. Maybe you can get a deal on a 2003 lawn tractors now that the 2004s will be coming out soon.

Shoot Sam, I bet we can all even find the bar and order beer in Spanish. What more do you need than ¿Una cerveza por favor. and Donde esta el baño?
