The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

The Fellowship "Epiphany Poster"... makes you want to cry doesn't it. Esp. in light of what's happening now, with the Libs USING the lack of WOMD to tear down Bush along with how the guys are being treated in Bagdad. Makes my blood boil. Count me in.

Well folks, no news is no news. But I heard that things did not go well. *sigh*

I'm heading out in a few minutes, so see you all tomorrow!

Did I spell it right?

There were two posters labeled "Epiphany Posters" that were available at one time on the New Line Shopping Web site for FOTR and TT.

The one for "Fellowship" has the scene from Moria where Gandalf is saying what J2 quoted above, to Frodo.
The TT poster has Sam's statement to Frodo, who is recovering from wanting to slice Sam's throat for the One Ring (sound like some Libs I know), with the ruins of Osgiliath in the background, with the "Those were the stories that count, even if you were too little to understand why, ect." speech.
Both framed and on my wall.

You spelled it right! - They are hard to find! having a hard time finding any pics big enough that you can see the text:

Here they are:

'I wish the ring had never come to me...I wish none of this had happened.'

'So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.'

'Those were the stories that meant something, even if you were too small to understand why, but I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going, because they were holding onto something.'

'What are we holding onto, Sam?'

'That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for.'

Found one place to buy them here: Lord of the Rings Specialty Poster Store

The posters...there I go again..chills and crying AGAIN...it just tears my heart out. I don't know if I am going to make it through ROTK if they stay close to the book. They say C.S. Lewis broke down, crying his head off at the "Inklings" meeting when Tolkien read the chapter, "The Choices Of Master Samwise".

We are all gonna be blubbery during RoTK! The choices of Samwise will tear me up I am sure. My favorite heartbreak is the scene at the Black gate where Gandalf is presented with the Mithril vest and fears that Frodo is lost. The mind games... CAN YOU IMAGINE? That'll kill me!

Are you into spoilers? - We have a seperate thread where we report spoilers because not all like them.... click my name and then click the spoilers thread if you are.... go to the end of the thread and there is a story from Ian McKellan about refilming the mithril vest scene just recently in pickups.

Let me know if you want to be on the ping list for that.... We just keep the one thread for all that stuff.

Thanks for the "spoilers" tip. I'll check it out. I'm one for "spoilers", (my oldest daughter is not) so yes, would appreciate being added to the "ping list". Thanks again.

I hate brain farts. I went to the grocery store to pick up a few things for dinner, then got home to find out I forgot the one thing I couldn't do without. So I had to go back again.

I'm making chicken and vegetables with cream sauce. Want to come over for some?

Certainly ecurbh! - I will head right on over....

My kitchen is back to being sanitary now.... I should just not use it for awhile so it stays that way eh?
