Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Along those same lines, since I'm walking into the lion's den on Friday, I've decided that if the Senior VP interviewing me asks me about my former exec. director or a particular former fellow-cabinet officer of his, I'm just going to tell the absolute truth: that I hate their guts and think they're criminals!!! What the hay...I've got no chance in this in-bred town anyway.
So, I won't leave a written time bomb but maybe I'll get the chance to drop a verbal one.
Is this the job seeking equivalent of a suicide death-wish?

Sheesh! Jr. needs to tell his lady friend caller that midnight is too late to call this house! (he's got one chance to tell her, then I will)One way to cure it is to call HER parents after midnight next time! My aunt did that to my cousin's boyfriend. He called late one night, and she told him to stop calling that late or she'd call HIS folks. I guess he didn't believe her, but she did it the next time. He never called her late at night again!

One way to cure it is to call HER parents after midnight next time! I'm still tryin' to figure out who her parents are. I know she's part of the youth group, but we have 2,000 people in our church and 300 kids in the youth group.
Last night she called back at 1:00 a.m. I was still up. I told him to tell her not to call so late. Next time, I'll tell her.

Just checked the UPS tracking; FRODO IS OUT FOR DELIVERY TODAY!!! I didn't think he'd get there today because of the storm, but I guess Claudette didn't disrupt things THAT badly.

I had an epiphany moment this morning reading the newspaper review of the new documentary on Henry VIII and his wives that starts tonight.
I realized that if I had lived 500 years ago, and done what I did (p---ing off the ultra-wealthy patron of the King), I'd have been sent to the Tower dungeon to await beheading!
Kings not being what they used to be, I was just railroaded out instead.
On the other hand, I wouldn't have had to worry about finding another job...
