The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Okay, here's the deal. It's a great insecticide. Make an infusion of it and put it anywhere you might have problem insects. If it grows around your house it repels flies, ants etc. It is poisonous to humans taken internally too but a very good skin wash.
I know it's a weed. But, it's also good for a couple of things. I had a pot of it last year for making insecticide with - but, it died.... I went away for a week and had a young girl watering but it dried out and died.

I hate it too.
A good second hand shop is the LOTTO, folks. What the heck you think all those Lotto winners spend much of their dough on...you guessed it... those clothes at FULL PRICE that they later sent to the cheapy trifty shop for our shopping enjoyment.
My oldest daughter understands the joys of cheapy shopping, but the youngest, while busy devouring our bank account in college, does not. Such is youth.
There is supppose to be some great second hand cheapy shops near Beverly Hills for all those "I've worn it once and can't be seen in it again" group. But you don't know WHO was wearing what and if there maybe a "health problem". Besides who wants Sharon Stone's old dresses...was THAT a dress at the Globes?

I can buy insecticides that won't kill my horse, I don't mind it dying. They actually are bad news and I was going to pull it. As a horse owner, I feel like a parent who has just been caught letting their children play with loaded guns.
To: Wneighbor
In other words, I am not planting any more of it. ;~D

Oh they will first try to 'help' me learn to manage my problem (I am so embarrassed!)Okay, quit being embarrassed. My neighbors called the city on me earlier this year because I let a dead tree sit in the front yard for 3 months without trying to remove it and just let the grass grow up all around it. I was embarrassed too. But, then I got to thinking, I was spending all my weekends then trying to go take care of Grama, and the neighbors that complained did not ever even ask me if I needed help with the tree. They just complained.
So, why should you be embarrassed that a weed came up overnight? It's not like you planted it. And it's not like you want it there with your horses. They're the ones with problems. You just got caught in their paranoia.

I also have a friend who owns a consignment store in one of those little towns down there close to you.... can't remember which one. But, she makes it easy on me because anything that doesn't sell in a certain amount of time the owner has to retrieve. If they don't come get it she bags it up. Every now and then she brings trash bags of clothes over to another friend's house there in Conroe and 3 or 4 of us go through that stuff like we're mining diamonds! Some of my favorite things have come along that way.

Good grief Ramius. CALL the woman! I went back to check. Your sister's post also definitely said, "Call Lisa." Hello! Geez... what are you, some kind of nag??? :-)
To: Wneighbor
Heh.... I will pull it first thing in the morning.... after photographing it of course. I will pull it for Bay, and for the pony.... And for Megan the Noxious Weed Cop and for America.
To: HairOfTheDog
As a horse owner, I feel like a parent who has just been caught letting their children play with loaded guns. Yeah yeah yeah, well you know every one of us parents has done something to our kid that, in retrospect, seemed detrimental to them. Just pull up the noxious weed and boil it for about 20 minutes. You can always put the liquid in any standing water to kill mosquito larvae. If you kill mosquitoes you could be keeping your horse from getting West Nile.
Then, after you've done that you'll feel like a wonderful parent!

Wow..that is the Lotto and a great afternoon to boot.
Hope you all get your "weed" problems worked out...I'm am wearing out and prob need to go to bed.
Maybe Hair needs to tell the enviromental people that she is only trying to save "endangered species and keep them true to their orginal enviroment".
She just might get a government grant for that.
Goodnight all!
