Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Don't give the pirate more ideas than he needs, W. What if it were your daughter he was calling a wench?

So yer lookin' for a wench with a pair of handcuffs huh?
This explains a lot. You're waiting for the wenches to use the aggresive pirate behavior! tsk tsk.

Gloom. dispair, and agony untold. If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.
Deep dark depression excessive misery.... you left that out.
I can't pass for 27 anymore can I?

Well, Jen, if she was behavin' like a wench...........
........ but then, I better be careful about that. I think my s-i-l occasionally calls his wife that. I think she thinks it's flirty. .....but I'm not gonna go there......

It's still wrong!
Gloom, despair, and agony on me.
Deep, dark depresssion, excessive misery.
If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.
Gloom, despair, and agony on me.

because I know I'm going to be nixed when the former employer calls are made anyway. I was pretty certain of that when I walked into this one. Actually when I did some research and found out who I would be interviewing with, I almost cancelled.
I understand the putting on of a suit. A lot of my office has gone pretty casual. Somebody made a crack about my suit at the troll meeting. I just said "some days you gotta go with what comes back from the cleaners..."
Even if I don't get this, the experience of the interview was a good thing.
To: Samwise
You two are two young to understand that... Crap, I'm not.
To: Corin Stormhands
Me neither. [sulking]
To: Corin Stormhands
Somebody made a crack about my suit at the troll meeting.the usual suit crack around here is "Do you have an interview or do you need to do laundry?"
To: Overtaxed
Well, I should be in a suit every day. But most days I just don't care enough to tie a tie. It's rare that I see anyone I need to impress.
To: Corin Stormhands
Yeah, I'm not going to cancel just because I think it's good for me to walk into the blast furnace now and then, just for the experience of it. How bad can 20 to 25 minutes be?
But I sure know that feeling...when I heard the name my heart sank, which was a bit of bummer after the news that I got another interview. Oh well, at least I know my material is good enough to get interviews with...even if I can't get over the hurdle after the interview.

So, speaking of
Hee Haw do y'all remember Ronnie Stoneman, the woman "fiddle" player. Didn't have all of her front teeth? The sister of one of my best friends from college married her son. I was in Nashville for the wedding.
When the mother's came in, they played "Send in the Clowns." I am not making this up.
To: Scott from the Left Coast
Oh well, at least I know my material is good enough to get interviews with... That's what I thought when he was talking about how many applicants they had.
To: Ramius; Wneighbor; RMDupree; trini; HairOfTheDog
Maybe you should stop tryin' fer the wenches and get yerself a
Hee Haw Honey...

(I believe Roy Clark is already taken, however)
To: Corin Stormhands
Bwaahhaahahha... lovin' it. Roy appears to be lovin' it too.
But... what's the deal with the one on the top right?
"One of these things... is not like the others..."
Gawd, HeeHaw was a great show. Right up there with Laugh-In.
To: Ramius
But... what's the deal with the one on the top right? That's Lulu!
This is a picture of Roy with the cast from the show.
To: Overtaxed
Hmmm... that's depressing, and I've been overquoting MacBeth all evening so I should know!

Oh yeah, now I remember Lulu...
DangMe that's good.
To: Ramius
Funny. When I was a kid I was embarrassed that my family watched Hee Haw. (and I'm pretty sure it came on right after Lawrence Welk!) Now I miss it.
To: JenB; Overtaxed
Uh, Jen, OT weren't quotin' Shakespeare...
