Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

We are in one of those sort of weird designed two stories houses, so it's hard to see what's happened up. Hubby & I have been getting out in between bands to try to see what we can. So far no real heavy branches, that we can see. gee. I wouldna minded comin' down to help ya. I shoulda thought o' that.

But I have new appreciation this year after tornado season and now this... of how sedate things are here. There is a lot to appreciate in the boring and rainy northwest! You know, I just don't know if I agree with you about that. Growing up here you get used to wind and rain strong enough to knock stuff down. But, when I lived in Lynnwood - granted for only 2 months - it was pretty freaky how the ground just sometimes plays jello. I did not like that at all!! Especially when I was inside the house. Give me tornados and hurricanes anytime!

Amen to that! Only the flooding potential here is not good and that can be a "jello" situation. Allison was not fun and it was only a tropical storm...that stayed and stayed. Thank God this storm is moving on and does not look to be stalling.

I got mine too! I am so excited!
Mine flew June 26th it says, over task force headquarters... Are they all the same? Or did others fly over a different part of the base on different days? Might be interesting to compare. I am all sweaty dirty now from mowing, but I am going to get cleaned up and try to figure out how to photograph it. You know.... 2J... I think we, you really, should tell this story to the forum in a thread. I think the story to tell is that they are grateful and support back home really matters to them.
2J - thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to do this for those guys! - Let them know how pleased and grateful we are for their service and sacrifice, and that I marvel that they would want to thank us for our little token of support. I will remember this and them, always.

So now you don't have to go to the mailbox for another 2 weeks.

it was pretty freaky how the ground just sometimes plays jello. Can't get any traction at all.... We'd better get some golf shoes or we'll never get out of this place alive.

Yes, I still have to go every day till me & ecurbh's concert tickets come!
But I feel strong....
To: Wneighbor
we do have an Air Force base in this town) I just remember my brother was stationed there at one time in the early 70's!!
I'm so glad you were with those guys when you opened the box! What a thrill for you AND them!

I've always love wisteriaMe too. The fragrance is lovely! You gotta watch out what it's growing on, though. The structure has to be VEY strong!! A tree would do fine, though. If we ever get a yard with some trees that have interesting branching habits, I might plant some wisteria to grow on them!

2J - thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to do this for those guys! Dittos on that 2J!! It is humbling for me to think that they spent the time to send something to each one of us for the little (in the grand scheme of things ) that we did.
Hair and Wn, I'm glad y'all got your flags, too! My certificate says that my flag flew over Task Force Headquarters on June 27th. I guess they fly a different one each day for just this purpose, to give them to folks.

I think the date and place is interesting Kevin.... I think we should keep track of that! - can you load a pic of yours with the certificate in case 2J wants to do a thread?
To: SuziQ
Heh - I thought it was Kevin who wrote that..... Hullo!

I wholeheartedly agree with that too.
