Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Everytime one hits I jump up off the sofa and go "eech..what was THAT!!"

...and if it were at night, you'd probably go around shining a flashlight on the ceiling.

Heh.... I don't have one hill! I am flat as a graham cracker ;~D but I do have planks.... that'll do! Gonna go do that now.... Want to use it on the witch's circle.... will be the first real proper mowing.

She was! Top speeds when she slammed into Long Beach and Pass Christian were something like 212 MPH! She flattened houses all along the coast with the winds and storm surge. A BIG cargo ship was driven up onto the beach in Gulfport by the storm surge whcih I think was about 25 feet. I guess they had to get a tug to pull it off!

She also did tons of damage as she moved up through the Mid Atlantic states as your picture shows. I think she was responsible for some really bad flooding and lots of deaths in the Wilkes Barre PA area as well!

Guess what was on my front porch when I got home from the meeting this morning?

And I didn't even have time to open it because we were having a luncheon for our retiring dean up here at the school so I just had to grab the package and run. But, there are only 2 instructors here that aren't veterans. So, since I was in the company of vets I decided a photo with me, the vets and the package was in order.

and G'nad, the guy on the far right is a retired Marine. The other 4 guys are retired Air Force. (we do have an Air Force base in this town)

So, I opened the package. some tears. I was not the only one hushed and solemn. And here it is:

Not all the little islands just us, Trinidad and Tobago, because we're so close to Venezuela I guess.

I love Venezuela. I have friends in Maracaibo! I never went to the east part of the country (not even Caracas), but I love Maracaibo and the surrounding area.

We are in one of those sort of weird designed two stories houses, so it's hard to see what's happened up. Hubby & I have been getting out in between bands to try to see what we can. So far no real heavy branches, that we can see.

The only thing that kept the top half from coming through those windows was the fact that it was completely wrapped in wisteria vines!

I've always love wisteria. Always wanted some but never had any. Now, I've found a really good excuse to go get some. To keep hurricanes from blowing my trees into the house. (she says from 500 miles inland)
