The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Hey, I'm right about at 28N -- right where the storm is coming in. We were awakened at 2am to evacuate. See you guys when I get back in. Say a little prayer that my house is still here. It shouldn't bee too bad, just might get some flooding.

What is the elevation of your house, MBY, and the distance from the Gulf? Sometimes these things can be the major factors. 'Course in the strongest hurricanes, everything in their path is at risk.

Best of luck.

Morning everyone.

Yeah, I just got up because I heard the report on the radio and thought I'd see if you checked in. Be blessed and safe. We'll be praying.

Good morning everyone!

MBY - take care and stay safe. I've went through Hurricane Andrew here in Miami and that was as bad as it gets, but things can be rebuilt and rebought. Family and friends are the only things that matter at this point!

Getting breakfast ready. It'll be up in a second. :)

Hi OT. Got any coffee?

I think I'm going to have to make new habits now that I live alone. I never cook, make coffee or tea, or do anything domestic when home alone. But, since I live alone now, perhaps I should think about it. LOL

instead of contacting the IT dept with some problem that he has apparently been having for the "last two weeks". It's the first we've heard of it.

so, that's kind of like the student who sent a letter to the college president complaining about my classroom discrimination BEFORE she said anything to my boss or me about a problem.

Discrimination charge was that I discriminate against women because I spent more than half my time in the classroom assisting men. There were 18 students in the class. 2 female and 16 male.

Very cool photo Sam.

Even though we know we don't want to be with 'em.

I just sent the chaplain quotes from each of the people that got their flags...what they said.

Yikes! I hope I said something "quotable!"

Hello! Good morning!

Your image shows a band of red hitting Houston. Is that where MBY is?

Have you unfolded your flag?

I'm not planning to unfold mine. I'd never get it folded back correctly. I'm thinking we'll frame ours in a shadow box with the certificate.

Well, if yours is like mine, you would find your name like on the certificate and the date the flag flew written on the band where the grommets are in very fine ink. And it would feel very dusty...like the sand is still in it.

Man, this is when we pray for MBY's home. She's evacuated. But she still needs prayer.
