The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Guess what Samwise got in the mail... I am just catching up on posts. But mine came too.
Wow.

I'm hesitant to mention this with all the job turmoil in the Hole. But, I have an interview tomorrow.
I've not be actively seeking. But when I see something interesting, I'll ship out a resume. They called this morning and the interview is tomorrow at 3:30 p.m.
If anyone's in chat tonite, I can give more details.

Will you be going to see this one on the big screen? I don't know yet.... Actually, I doubt it, but will watch it when it hits pay per view.
I have talked to Corin about this already, I am actually not enthused about the idea of it not having at least subtitles. I think I am part of the mass market that needs to be pandered to a bit, like having it in a language I understand.
That said.... As history I should know, it will be worthwhile indeed, but I will not likely enjoy it.... I physically can't stand depictions of cruelty.... especially on what would otherwise be entertainment. So I have mixed feelings about it.
To: Corin Stormhands
I am headed to my mailbox.....
To: HairOfTheDog
LOL What can I do but laugh at this point? I'm still hopeful it will get better. Nobody has told me otherwise, not like when I lost my hearing and they just came out and said "It's gone for good...sorry."
It really doesn't bother me too much except when I read.

Unbelievable. I'm so excited! He didn't tell me everyone is getting them! I didn't know for sure, so I just kept my mouth shut about mine (which was very very hard, as I'm sure you can imagine, since you guys know pretty much every iota of my fairly mundane life.)

I physically can't stand depictions of cruelty.... especially on what would otherwise be entertainment. Bordering on starting a religious discussion here, but I believe it's precisely because I know the story that this will have an impact on me. I'm not anticipating entertainment. Quite seriously, I'm anticipating a spiritual awakening.
I think what we've been taught of Jesus' life and death in traditional settings has been far too sanitized.
I gotta stop or I'll start preachin' (and I don't have the call).

It really doesn't bother me too much except when I read. I'm no doctor, and have never played one on tv. But I'm willing to bet your eye doctor will tell you NOT to read or surf for a few days. Either that or he might put a patch on it so you won't be tempted.
My guess (and that's all it is) is that your eye needs rest.
To: Corin Stormhands
I bet you're right. Funny if I have to tell Steve "Could you go get one of those black patches for me now?"

Ooh, cool! I'll have to see if I can make those, it's not that far. But it would be late night.... anyway, thanks for the ping.

I understand and you got my point I think. Normally a movie would be entertainment, and this movie will not be that.

Yeah. I'm not going expecting to be entertained. I can see JCSuperstar or Godspell (heretic that I am) if I want entertainment.
To: 2Jedismom
I think the patch is a good idea, and I am not a doctor either, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

Practice saying Argh!. You can wear a chicken on your shoulder instead of a parrot!

Just stopping by for a bit to say "hello" and catch up.
Rather busy day watching our new trophical storm, "Claudette", inch forward towards us here in South Texas. The local channel for Harris County said they are evacuating the west end of Galveston, so things may be picking up. Anyway, anyone on the Texas coast...heads up.
Are you all talking about the ROTK teaser poster, 'cause I got mine today. Just in time to off set those trophical storm blues.
Hope everyone is well.
To: Corin Stormhands
I'm kinda iffy about the Mel Gibson movie. I am sure it will be better than any of the others, but... I am not so sure the story should be filmed. Not because it would necessarily be sacriligeous, but merely because, well, the story is kind of the greatest story, ever, and I don't know that film can nearly give it justice.
Plus I am not sure I could take seeing the brutality. I have enough trouble reading it. It's one of the hardest parts of the Bible to read, right along with the Fall.

Nothing in the mail....
Not anything from Afganistan, and not any concert tickets yet either!
It's OK.... all this mail-checking is helping me get over my mailbox phobia... ;~D Immersion therapy is the best way with some things.

My guess (and that's all it is) is that your eye needs rest. I'm with Corin on this 2J... having sustained eye trauma in the past, the perscription was antibiotics, and restin' the eye..., sometimes covered...
