The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

So once SuziQ's report is up are you going to alert TORN as to Flat Frodo's existence?

Hmmm. I always plant mine in an open sunny-all-day place but that leaves it pretty open to ice and stuff. I have marjoram come through all the time and it's so close to related to oregano that I've never known why the one stayed well and the other didn't.

Marjoram is closer to the house kind of protected from north wind though. Think I'll try oregano near there next year.

Here is the shot I wish I'd have got of the Thunderbirds yesterday! Stack formation.

One thing I noticed repeatedly yesterday was examples of parenting.

One example, when we were looking at missiles and bombs that were on display: I sat and watched a kid climb on a guided missile of some kind so mom could get this "Dr. Strangelove" picture of him riding it. LOL

They left and I was still looking around, and another kid the same age came up and touched a bomb.... grabbed one of the moveable wings on it and tried to turn it. Mom said "NO! - DON'T TOUCH IT!" The kid just rolled his eyes and said... "Mom, it's not gonna blow up or anything.... Like they'd put a real bomb out here" (So the kid knows that, why doesn't mom?) She grabbed him and pulled him away from it....

Yeah - I thought I would! - There will be enough chapters then for it to be interesting.

That's a good idea. Right now we are in a lull and pretty soon TTT EE and ROTK fever will be hitting and Flat Frodo may become lost in the shuffle. After everything he has been through, I'd hate for him to be ignored.

And then after I posted that I boobooed I remembered MBY's post about her son being born on her birthday.... and I'm thinking, maybe that was an appropriate comment to the quote!!!

But, it was meant for you. And your watching of parents.
