The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Watch the WYWS movie, I will hand you a tissue when necessary. That was the one I watched. I had to go outside and bask in the heat and mosquitoes after it was over. To get life back in proper perspective. and relieve the sniffles.

yuh might get caught in the ECR though... (effective casualty radius) Don't count on it. I'm brighter than I look. And there are good points about living 200 miles from the perimeter of the family area.

Thanks Sam... missed you guys on the 4th since we did nothing patriotic at all except a little talking about the Founders, and even that was in the middle of a Harry Potter discussion (you do not want to know). Didn't get to see fireworks this year though. So, now that I have met one online person in rl I am so massively excited about EntMoot.

Food was great! I have some leftovers for tomorrow night. I'm staying in one of those places that has a little kitchen area so I don't have to eat out every night. (I always tend to over eat when I eat out....very hobbit-like.) Anyway, OB and LSAggie must have liked me, they want me to come over for dinner Thursday night. :)
To: g'nad
G'nad, sent ya 'nuther one.
To: Overtaxed
You can come to my house for dinner if you want to rent a car and drive several hours.

Hope I didn't forget anyone! Here is the Frodo Report
Frodo arrives looking a little frazzled from Baltimordor. A bit weary from his travels, he's glad to get out of his box and stretch his legs.

"I'm here! Where am I?"
"A place sometimes called 'The Southern Part of Heaven'. Here, Frodo. Have some tea and rest a while.

"Then we'll walk around a bit.
"Reminds me of Crickhollow," Frodo seemed to approve of my little house.
Frodo is an ideal house guest making it a point to be helpful around the house.

"We had a bad ice storm last winter and there's still a lot of fallen trees that need to be cleared."
"You have my sword."

Most of the weekends were rainy....too foul a weather for Frodo to be out much. So we downed pints and watched the races:

"Where do you go, and what do you do every day during the week. 'Tis a strange custom....leaving your home just to work."
"I work in a lab....I'll take you one day"
"Wizardry of Saruman!" Frodo exclaimed staring at the row of sep funnels. "Why is there an insect in the last one?"

"Uhhh.....unplanned method deviation.
 |
 |
| "So this is where you use your Palantir to talk to the others?" |
"The Gaffer could use this for his home brew" |
I don't think that hobbits are cut out for a lab...maybe he would be more at home in a small town setting. So we packed up....

...and spent the weekend at The House:

...and saw such sights as:
 |
 |
| Frodo in the dwarvling corn |
Scuppernong vines. |
Frodo guards the pecan trees agains squirrels, foreign and domestic....uh...make that domestic only.

Miss Emily relaxes, knowing Frodo and Sting are near:

"Let me show you our little town on a Sunday morning."
 |
 |
| "I bet there are spiders under there." |
"This place reminds me of Rosie." |
|
|
 |
 |
| Frodo hanging out at the corner of Perry's Hardware and Gunshop |
Local "historic site" the first Post Office. |
"This might make you feel a bit at home, Frodo:"

"Feels like the Southfarthing."
I figured that Frodo might be getting a bit hungry, so we went back to The House for some red meat off the bone:

Time to eat! (Frodo and my sister.)

"Well, Frodo, all good things must come to an end. It's time for you to head north to visit SuziQ. Here are some snacks for you to take on the road."

Heh...got the car...don't think I can work the several hours thing. I'm supposed to be "at work" this week.

KC barBque, must have been wonderful. Onion rings and the corn/cheese thing were good too!

WYWS is a funny movie.
They tried to make that family seem quirky, but I keep thinking...hmmm....wouldn't that be nice...
To: Overtaxed
Very good report indeed OT! Cool to see your office and garden!
