The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I was actually chuckling when I said that...I wasn't mad at all...but I did think it was one of my best retorts ever. Wonderful response!!!
I just don't know how they manage to be so clueless? It seems that after raising kids of their own they ought to know we need some positive words rather than that other blather.
Myranda has always told me that she wants to keep living close to me too when she grows up. Now??? Well, I think she's wanting to take this opportunity to be in Germany while it's available and I can see that. And when she was planning to go to San Antonio in the fall she had asked me if I would look for a job there so I guess I'm not out of favor - just not included in the German adventure. That's okay. That one I can live with. As long as her sister doesn't rub off too much.

All in all I think she must have been entertained thinking of them. ROTFL! - It sounds like it!

Sounds like she wants to stretch her wings a bit...and her sister would probably appreciate the help, huh?

Hello!
The boys are all at swimming lessons...Steve teaches them swimming every Sunday during the summer. Taught Matthew to swim last year and almost has Joshua swimming already this year.

I think my mom regrets it because Laura Ashley is such a pretentious snob. Any chance of getting it back?
I ended up with my stuff through the back door pretty much. Great-grandmother's bed was broken. It is a lovely dark wood 4 poster. I took it thinking somehow someone could repair it. Took about 20 years but finally had that repair done so now everyone covets it.... but it is Myranda's.
And Grama has been very open with Myranda and I over the past 5 years about wanting us to take stuff that we want so my mom won't get it. Sadly, we both still have china cabinets in the house that I wasn't able to move. And Myranda has a cedar chest and a TV. But, so far I think it will be okay for us to go home and get them

and her sister would probably appreciate the help, huh? Well, judging by watching the last week, I'd say her sister is going to have a personal slave.

Well, that is a good reason. I think the dreams are still lurking there for an afternoon nap.
So, is the weather cool or tolerable there? Do you ever take a hammock down to the old still and crash? If there are not swarms of mosquitoes and the weather is comfortable I bet that would be a first rate napping spot.

Well, there is hope, because nothing of our's is good enough for Miss Ashley. I'm hoping she'll get something "better" and give it back to my mom. And my mom is under strict orders that I get it!
I actually think it never entered her mind that I wanted it...like it never entered my mind that I had to ask for it! So when I threw such a fit, she was quite taken aback. But that was when she was still enamored with the barbie doll Laura Ashley (a daughter from one's dreams, you know). It wasn't until much later that Miss Ashley made it quite clear that we were all beneath her...including my mother.

Well, the Buff Orpis have spent two nights outside...in their cooplet, which is in the coop. I'm getting them all used to each other but still seperate and I still need to build them a nest box.

Well, the only thing in my mother's house that I would like is the watch.
Grama gave me her piano when I was a child. When I tried to take it from my mom's house she said no. She said it was hers. Grama said she gave it to me. To no avail. But, it has now gone to my youngest brother's house. It is destroyed by their kids. That aggrevates me every time I go there and see it. But, it's gone. The watch is all that remains and I have given up on that. It will not come to me.

It would be a first rate napping spot if I could get water to it. It is dry and scrutchy now that it was cut short, and the grass needs a drink.... I prayed for rain but my coordinates were off and Corin got it. I am seriously considering buying a couple hundred feet of hose and leaving a sprinkler out there for a day or two.
It is nice out today and I have a sprinkler going right out the window. I am having this incredible urge to go out and climb on Bay bareback and barefoot. Go reconnect with him and see how he feels.... I think he feels OK and might not mind the burden. His life might actually be boring now that I haven't been working him at all.

LOL!! Here's another funny one...(imo)
I once was commenting about how nice it was that I could hand down Matthew's clothes to Joshua...that Joshua had just grown into Matthew's old training underwear. Miss Ashley wrinkled up her nose and said "Oh, I could NEVER pass down underwear!"
I replied "Oh yeah? Well I wonder how many people DIED on sheets you had your babies on? A little Clorox and everything is good as new."
This threw her into a real state...she won't drink out of a glass anywhere but in her own home without a straw...not even in my mom's house! We're so Nasty, you know...

So, are all 4 birds being pets? They haven't bonded to one another and messed up the pet routine?
I am fixing to get off my duff and go next door and get my mail from my neighbors. I should have done it hours ago - but I am just not ready to face having to explain everything to people I barely know - even though they have been nice neighbors.
And then I need to run up to work and get a preview of what's waiting for me there.
