Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

So if I eat those pipes under my house, they'll give me gas too?
That's good to know if this unemployment thing goes on too long.
To: Lil'freeper
Ok, I gotta push away from the computer and go pack. Tomorrow we drive to Georgia. We're picking up the cattle dogs with weekend! We'll be back Sunday evening, tho I don't imagine I'll be able to check in until Monday. Hope everyone has a safe and wonderful 4th of July!

With that stuff, it's Hurricane Elf. So, you would be related then to Tropical Storm Bill?

Take care! - Stay off the road, travel only by day yadda yadda yadda!

er, we're picking up the cattle dogs this weekend.
To: Lil'freeper
Have a safe trip.

So, you would be related then to Tropical Storm Bill? He'd be my minion, my lacky.
To: Scott from the Left Coast
Your lacky is washing my flowers into the neighbor's yard...
To: Corin Stormhands
Tell him I said to blow them back.
You may have to sleep with the windows open, but you'll have your landscaping back.

Some folks were linking arms with the statues, putting their arms around them, etc. None were roped off. I believe they are for the most part acrylic, but with the outer coating being waxy for the effect.
When we first walked up to the museum, I saw Samuel L. Jackson standing there staring at someone. It took me a full 30 seconds to realize that it was a wax figure. It was absolutely perfect! There was a Harrison Ford nearby, but I must have passed right by and not even realized it. I saw it from 15 feet away when we were standing in line.
Some figures were better likenesses than others. The George W. Bush figure didn't look that much like him, and Ronald Reagan's hair was ALL wrong. I got a picture with the Morgan Freeman figure (he's from MS, too, up in the Delta where SSQ grew up). I also took Clare's picture with the Albert Einstein figure which DID look like him, and it wasn't until I downloaded them yesterday that I realized she's posing just like him, but didn't realize it at the time! He's got his right hand on his hip and she had her left hand on hers. It was fun to see how it turned out.

So it would be more of a wind event than rain.
To: Scott from the Left Coast
Actually, my neighbors should have a pretty good crop of flowers and grass next season with all the stuff that's washed away this spring...
To: SuziQ; ecurbh
Excellent pictures, Suzi.
I can see the weight you've lost, Ecurbh, good job. You too, Suzi, only we say the "before" on Ecurbh, but not you. However, you guys both look great, I'm proud to be your friends.
Someone at the minimoot is a talented photographer, IMO.

I think that is more of a "skirt" than a kilt.

They Cropped Anduril!
7/02/03, 3:56 pm EST - Xoanon
John son of Joe writes: I have always liked the detail that they put into all the swords in the movies, but when I saw the new teaser poster of Aragorn holding Narsil, I said "Hey, wait a minute. Narsil and Anduril are full two handed swords. And Aragorn isn't holding a two handed sword." [More]
Personally I don't think this is a big deal, they obviously cropped the image of the sword on the poster so that it would fit on the poster without blocking his face... ~Hair

So, when he gets the thing, it'll be a 2 hander, or else.
