Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Good morning! It feels like Friday. Too bad I still have to work two more days this week.
To: RosieCotton

I figure some of us present a slightly or somewhat different personality online than we do in RL. Aren't y'all just prayin' that's true for me and g'nad?
(good morning)
To: JenB
Hey, guys.... I could really use some prayer and stuff here. I just got laid off.Aw Jen! That stinks. I'll be praying you find something suitable for you and quickly.
I have some things that may work out already, and I've got tuition money, but needless to say I'm concerned. Also I'm mad, but I won't go into that.
That's understandable.....

No! Blame Canada, blame Canada!
With all their beedy little eyes
have packed their heads so full of lies,
Blame Canada! Blame Canada!
We need to form a full assault.
It's Canada's fault.

The radio weather babe said we're supposed to get as much rain tonight and tomorrow as we did during the whole month of June. Great! Last night I just finished planting the Iris that my m-i-l sent (I swear there were more than 100 bulbs). Now they can wash down into the neighbor's yard and join the wildflowers I planted in April.
Seriesly, can I mulch these things? Or does that put them down too far?

Morning! It's, uh, nice to see you guys so early in the day.
It's sunny and beautiful here. I have nothing to do. I am starting to feel ok about this ;-)

Good morning, Jen! Sorry about your job...though it sounds like it may be a good thing in the end. Still stressful, though.

Nothing to do is not necessarily a bad thing. Jr. got home from choir tour late on Thursday night (actually Friday a.m.) and was bored by Saturday (he slept most of Friday). By Sunday he was asking if he could rent a game from Blockbuster. (no, he can't).
He's got his typing tutor that he has to work on, he's supposed to be going to the school to lift weights with the football team, he's got the new Harry Potter book and Sunday I practically begged him to go with me to take Luke to King's Dominion. He didn't want to go. (of course when it was time to leave, neither did Luke so we stayed home).
I could deal with a few days of having no work to go to, no animals to tend to and no reason to get up. Of course I'm too old to not have a reason to get up, but that's another story...
To: Corin Stormhands
I think that would put them too far down.
To: Overtaxed
That's what I'm thinking too. But they're obviously not rooted. I'm afraid they will wash away.
My m-i-l told me not to cover the rhizome (sp?) (she calls it the 'potato'). But I read on several web sites to cover them barely, especially in areas where it gets hotter. So I figured since I was planting them now, I should do that. Maybe I'll mulch on the other side of them, so that they just wash into the mulch. My grass hasn't come in enough yet to stop much of the erosion.
To: Corin Stormhands
I just feel unproductive. I am more used to working sixty, seventy hour weeks than not working.
I'm going to the thrift shop to look for a new pair of jeans (mine are too big again!) and maybe a pair of shoes. I'll try to shake this funk while I'm gone. See ya...

Congrats on the need for new jeans! And your news is less than 24-hours old. It's okay to be in a funk for a bit.
