The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

See ya Corin, glad you're back.

I could really use some prayer and stuff here. I just got laid off.Weren't you going on vacation this week anyway? Enjoy it and worry about the job when you get back!
We had such FUN in New York City! I didn't think I'd like it that much, but it was great. Even getting on the express subway and ending up at the Brooklyn Bridge stop instead of Little Italy was funny. We just got off and headed back uptown; making sure we were on the LOCAL one, of course. We all got one day, unlimited Metro Passes and that worked out well cause we were able to go back and forth as many times as we liked, on the subway or the bus!

Our trip was different. It was to
be a classic affirmation of
everything right and true in the
national character; a gross,
physical salute to the fantastic
possibilities of life in this
country. But only for those with
true grit...
...and we're chock full of that!
My attorney understands this
concept, despite his racial handicap.
But do you?!
The HITCHHIKER nods -- giggles -- petrified.

Yes, I am going to go on vacation this weekend and forget all about this stuff, and maybe when I get back there'll be something worked out. I just have to have a little faith.
In the meantime, I'll be around a bit more. No cloud without some silver lining, I suppose.

Far as I can see, you are.

I used to really dislike NYC, but these days I really enjoy it, what little time I spend there.
I think Fairway Market is a high point. And the Metropolitan Museum of Art, of course.
To: Sam Cree
I hope you can take the reality shock at Entmoot. ;~D

That Kel Tec thing is very cute. But I'm not too sure a .30-30 is enough if she is going to shoot bears from the horse. You're right. The small stuff would be good for Becky, who has to only worry about two-legged varmints. Hair needs a bit more firepower. .44 Magnum would work, unless we're talking biiiiig bears. Then she might want to go with a 45-70 lever action.
Marlin made the 1895GS as a survival gun for Alaskan bush pilots. Stainless steel, and a 18.5 inch barrel, although two inches could be cut off, and still be legal. With a weight of 7 lbs., recoil with 500gr bullets is horrendous. I should know, because my old Winchester 1886, which weighs 12 lbs, kicks horribly with heavy bullets. But there would be nothing in North America that would argue with it. And I like stainless steel.

He said he understood, but I could
see in his eyes that he didn't. He was lying to me...
To: 300winmag
the .450 Marlin has better ballistics than than the venerable 45-70, but I still love that cartridge... it shoots thru schools...

I figure some of us present a slightly or somewhat different personality online than we do in RL. For instance, I'm a notoriously quiet person, the opposite of my wife and daughter. I am not so chatty as I am here.
However, Kevin and Ruthy are very much in person what they seem online.
Yet, I think we see things about each other in this thread that we may not see so easily in RL.
The moot's going to be lots of fun, hope our family members will think so too. I imagine they will, most of them are resigned to it by now ;-)
