The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

... just two people telling each other why they disagree about a certain character in a movieWell, ok, that I don't mind. :)
he wasn't doing it to "please his father," since he doesn't mention the pleasing thing. The way I read your post... I thought maybe you think that's a bad thing.
There's been some talk (some of it speculation) about a scene (or two) that will be included in the Extended Edition of TTT, where we see a flashback of Boromir and Faramir interacting with each other, and with their father. The speculation is that the scene(s) show that Denethor favors Boromir a great deal more than he does Faramir. Thus, my interpretation that Faramir is trying to please his father with his "great gift". And yes, I hold that doing the wrong thing in order to please his father would be a bad thing.
Anyone, it's the end of a long week. I am off!
Have a good weekend! Need to go and run errands myself, so later all...

The orpis are getting all these feathers and they look kinda silly with tufts of fuzz still attached and feathers sticking through...I'll take a couple of pictures.

That's okay... you think Scarlett is a "brat"... I see far more depth in the character than a "brat"... I haven't read the book. The movie Scarlett IS a brat.
And the book Faramir is dreamy...

And yes, the chickens are sweet to hold...once you catch them. It's just their nature to run when you try to pick them up...but once you do, they'll sit on you like a pal. And they'll come up to you when they want to and pirch on you.
Here are the babies...Benny Hen is the darker on on the right. Puffy is the one with it's head down. See, you can still slightly see the pink on their heads put there to indicate they are pullets. They are in their cooplet.

You could band their legs with a colored anklet so you can tell them apart later, looks like you may need to.

I know!! We'll have to see...but Benny is definitely darker and you can tell them apart. Also, Benny is the more docile of the two...she'll run up under you if she gets the least bit nervous...

I just got home from the feed store. While I was out there unloading feed, that young black rooster that survived the massacre caming running up to me with that "I am going to peck you" look about him. He thought better of it when I swung my foot at him. I think he and the hen have gotten a bit protective of the little ones running around. I lock them all in the coop at night. The big ones are always out there in the middle of a group of the little ones. I wondered if they might bond since they are really not that far apart in age, even if they are in size.

I always say if a rooster bothers me, the first time I'll shake a skillet at it...the next time, I'll whack it with the skillet and the third time, I put it in the skillet! LOL
Matthew still wants a couple of your roos!

This is the cooplet I was referring to...it's a little outdoor brooder. The chicks can scratch around in the sun if they like or get up under a burlap bag I lay across the top and sleep.

The chicks still sleep in the box in our enclosed porch at night.

Ok. Well, it depends on Steve. Sometimes he's too tired to go anywhere after work and sometimes he's anxious to go out on a Friday night!
