Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

The chicks are from my eggs, they are 1/2 Rhode Island Red, 1/2 mutt:)

Unless I move way south of Miami into Homestead, I can't have chickens as pets or livestock! LOL!
2J - poor little dove. :(

You have some kind of restrictions?

Mint??? I have never used mint.I've been surprised lately how many different variations of it there are. Do you use cinnimon? Nope. No spices except for mint and a little salt and pepper. I've had it with garlic, but though I LOVE garlic, I don't like it in tabouli. You put cinnamon (however you spell that word!) in yours?
To: RMDupree
I haven't found a premade kind I like. Maybe it's just 'cause this is the way Mom made it, I don't know!
To: RMDupree
It's very easy to make, in any case. Hardest part is cutting up vegetables. If you can handle that...you're all set!

But the interesting thing she told me is this month in Readers Digest is an article about a new fad sweeping the nation....raising chickens for pets:)....LOL, seems your ahead of the game 2J. Suppose we could cash in on it. I saw that article the other day! Meant to tell you guys about it! It was all about people in cities keeping a few chickens, and how popular it's becoming!

I don't have my camera, because I didn't know we'd be coming over...NINNYHAMMERS!

Miami is chock full of restrictions!
I live in the suburb of Kendall, which used to be nothing but farmland and swampland. Now, it is one of the most congested places to live in South Florida and gets worse every year!
I can't wait to get out.

Yeah, this batch I am making today, will have:
4 tomatoes
6 bunches of green onions
2-3 cucumbers
3-4 bunches of parsely
pkg. of cracked wheat
salt, pepper, cinnimon, oil and lemon juice.

I saw the recipe and it looked like a cinch! I'll give it a try when I'm over the flu and more energized. :)

Cracks me up:)

Right, this is going to take me several hours. An important thing to remember about making good taboli is chopping the veg. real fine.

*hugs* You and your family are in my prayers.

I'm home! When I left, both of the newborns were fully out of their shells and resting. We removed the egg shells.
Several have pipped, but done nothing more. The one that was cracked was tweeting madly, so we removed the bandage tape.

I know, it's a shame about the dove. But it would have been eaten up by ants in my yard. And they seemed like they were going to try to help it.
I would be more worried if it had a mate...the mate might pine for the one that is gone. But it doesn't appear to have.

ROFLOL...that's hilarious, a bandaged egg hatching. That should be one of the ones they keep. That is so cool.

BTW, Did I miss your comments on the taste test?
Becky

They had two that cracked and they bandaged them...one of them has actually pipped!
