Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I've been impressed with the recent wave of movies based on Marvel comic book characters I haven't seen any of those... I haven't been to any movies this year except TTT... ain't I pitiful?... do you recommend either of the X-Men flicks?...
got an urge to see The Wild Bunch again... Peckinpaw (sp?) at his finest...
To: ecurbh
Supposedly, it's scheduled for late 2004 from 20th Century Fox, but filming hasn't started yet. Rumor is they are negotiating with George Clooney to play Reed Richards, Mr. Fantastic. I could live with that.
To: g'nad
I enjoyed both the X-Men movies. If you're like me and have never read the comics, I would reccomend starting with the first one to get some of the background of the characters.
To: g'nad
Heh, I only like going out for the big-budget special effects flicks. Anything else I can generally wait to see on one of the movie channels.
do you recommend either of the X-Men flicks?
Actually, I recommend both of them! I think a person gets more out of them if they're at all familiar with the comic book, but the movies are still a lot of fun even if you've never seen any of the comics or animated series.

thanks fer yer opinions... I'll check'em out...
g'nite fellas... duty calls...

g'nad; yup, sometimes Sam is a real hoot. Your walkway, slope, hmmm. Is the slope relatively uniform or variable, long flat stretches with a step is a way of breaking up the slope. A long sloping flagstone walkway, while dramatic, can get slick when wet, and will be a natural drainage way unless side trenched. Also kinda slick with snow & ice, since we do get some most every year. Check out the slope and let us know what you have, we love a challenge, especially when we aren't the ones doing it. :-)

Time for bed here too...
g'night all!

I am home now..... gotta go clean stall since I didn't this mornin', and put the horses to bed.
Man, did we get a gully washer today! - thunder and lightening and hail and the whole bit! Course.... it was little tiny hail, not like the life-threatening weather out there in the flatlands.

Our weather here lately has been gorgeous - sunny and about 80. It was starting to cloud up a little tonight, so we may finally get some rain again.
I did get out a few minutes early tonight, but have a lot to do tomorrow, so I better get to bed. So much to do before vacation, plus I have to ready to move as soon as I get back.
I am considering a taking a trip to the Olympic Peninsula in the fall (late Sept). Hopefully I'll have a new digital camera by then. We'll have to see if the finances allow, though. Entmoot gets first $$ priority.
Good night. :^D

Well, if you can make it out here in September.... I hope we can mini moot!
Good night, I am goin' to bed too!

Got this from Lisa earlier...it seems your chicks are going to be used as a project!
According to our "very precise calculations" (done mathematically according to our theory of egg eruption) we will stop turning them tonight. Our 9 pm turning tonight is the last one. Then 3 days of waiting with the hopeful event occuring Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday (according to our "very precise calculations"). We are excited. We have a box and bedding. Did she give you some feed or do we need to purchase some? Also, may we borrow your lamp? We will keep you informed. We have VBS this week (our theme is "county fair"- pretty appropriate, huh!) so hopefully we will be able to bring some chicks to church this week. We will have baby pigs, ducks, chickens, goats and whatever else "farmy" we can get. The pens are being built this week. Our kids have volunteered to clean out the cages (we'll see how long that lasts!) Come on by, if you have a chance. Lisa
I'll get her some feed this afternoon, and the light too.

Good morning:)
It didn' rain here enough yesterday to do anything, so I am watering my garden this morning before church. It is suppose to be 91 today, and the rest of the week:)
We went to the playday last night. Had a good crowd. Jennys filly is doing real well.
2J, How was the fishing?
You all have a great day.

It was good. We went ahead and picked berries yesterday morning before the contest started (9am-noon). It was just for kids, and Matthew won for catching the biggest fish in his age group...Joshua won for accuracy in casting. Matthew won a Zebco 202 florescent orange fishing pole and Joshua won a Scooby Doo purple fishing pole!
Then we went fishing at Blue Gill Pointe and I caught a good sized catfish and Matthew caught a couple of keeper pan fish and we had a fish fry for supper last night!
Oh, I picked 10lbs of berries...$2 a pound. I bagged up several pounds using my air-sucking bag-sealing jobber and froze them. The four of us picked those 10lbs in about an hour and a half! I talked to a woman who's son is a Marine in Iraq for a long time. She said that it come to the point where the MREs don't have any taste anymore and she was picking the berries so she could freeze them and make him muffins when he came home. I nearly cried.

Wow, we were posting at the same time:)
I keep forgetting about that darn feed. I thought about the other day when we thought you might come riding. Then forgot about it again.
LOL, I hope her precise calculations work better then mine did last time:) I still can't figure why they came a day early last time. Oh, well those chicks are all doing fine. I turned them out you know last week one day. They are staying right in the coop for now:), There are so many of them though that I can't get a good count to see if I have lost any since I turned them out. They are never still. But since there still are so many I'm not worried. I should be able to start telling which are roosters pretty soon. You never said, does Roy have any sign of a comb? Roosters get combs starting at 4 wks. Hens not till a long time later.

I made your recipe for Blueberry Muffins yesterday and they are just scrumptious!!! Clare, who is my picky eater, just loved them! She said she'd like them even without the berries; she likes the taste of the muffin itself!
Congrats to your little fishermen. That's cute that they have their own little fishing rods now.
